My friend saw CoF a while ago and apparently they were dreadful, Dani came out in jeans and a tshirt from what I hear. Whereas Dimmu put on a killer show, corpse paint and all.

And they have Hellhammer now... Thet fact can beat pretty much anything...

Dimmu Borgir Is Good COF (cradle of Filth) are not so good live but they have good guitarist's. But Dimmu Borgir Are (much) Better

You just have to listen at the first three albums by DM and you'll understand my opinion... they just kicked ass.
They are still very good, but it's not the style that I liked from them.

And I never liked CoF... I don't like the vocal of Dani, and for me... they are more sell out than DM

Ill go with Dimmu Borgir coz of their first albums.

i actually like cof AND black metal, but i don't see them as bm (extreme goth or something like that)

I prefer Dimmu mainly because imo iv'e enjoyed almost all their cd's and i also enjoy it becouse its very melodic.

I love both bands but I prefer Cradle Of Filth because they have more 'masterpieces' imo (Dusk... And Her Embrace, Cruelty And The Beast, Midian), whereas Dimmu Borgir only has one (Enthrone Darkness Triumphant). This is all opinionated of course.

I also dont have a problem with both bands, I like CoF's works till Median at least (Nymphetamine was quite good also) BUT I didnt like their last album so much because it was "soft". Dimmu Borgir on the other hand are something you cant compare when you're talking about Norway, they are more Black Metal than CoF but I also didnt like the last album, especially with their pagan image and stuff. so I will say Dimmu Borgir before the last album.

What?COF is a black metal band?!Since when....I allways consider them for Death/gothic/something band.
From 5-6 good songs they made none is Black metal!
So there goes my vote for Dimmu Borgir

On this website CoF have been listed as Symphonic Black Metal for these albums: 1994 Principle Of Evil Made Flesh, 1996 V Empire [EP], 1996 Dusk And Her Embrace.

I can care less what the genre label is, I used to listen to both bands excessively and slowly stopped as I discovered new bands. The difference is that I can still put on Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and enjoy it...

I don't understand how people won't consider early CoF to be Symphonic Black. And he say CoF didn't sound like Emperor and Burzum? They didn't, but early CoF and Emperor sound more like each other than Emperor and Burzum does.

My vote goes to Dimmu Borgir
just because of the "hardcore" factor and faster beats and more distorted guitar

first i like both bands but i like Dimmu Borgir a little more than CoF
and i think dimmu is the more sellout than CoF
the reason is that CoF is not stiable in their style from extrem to goth - from goth to black
but Dimmu Borgir keep developing their style......so DIMMU BORGIR IS THE BEST BLACK METAL BAND

I have always been a fan to both bands... I'm still a fan of Dimmu Borgir as for CoF there newest album was terrible Faster, Harder, whatever doesn't even feel or sound like CoF. (well old CoF) The reviews anywhere should have been a 1 at best. I hear that Cradle sold out but Dimmu doesn't just because of CoF new album.

yeah i have to agree with that.
I've been listening to CoF for god knows how long too, so i kinda feel the emotional attachment to stick to by 'em and everything.
ever since i was like four ive been listening to them cause my sister always used to play their songs.

Cradle Of Filth doesn't even sound like Black Metal anymore, I don't mean to bash on them or anything, It's just that Dimmu Borgir still retain a lot of original Black Metal qualities.

I used to be positive Dimmu Borgir was much better. But their set last week that I went to see was a complete mess, now Im not exactly sure. I have a hard time listening to them now since that show.

Both bands sucks monkey balls IMO...But Dimmu Borgirs three first albums are masterpieces... and kick the shit out of COF every soingle day.

Yes, I know they were black metal, even though they were not the best BM band their first few album (in the black and death metal sessions) were listen-able but now they suck

They're still fucking playing Metal!!!! That's all that's fucking needed. Who cares if they decided to make a little more money. It doesn't fucking matter. It's not our choice.
