Spent a few hours now on Darkest Dungeon. etc

Hahaha and I just opened this thread to post something about Darkest Dungeon... seems like it's quite unbalanced from what you say. As I am not interested at all in trying "early access" games, I'll patiently wait until they balance it up. I really have high hopes for it too.

In other news, Ultima Underworld 2's official sequel is getting a kickstarter as I write this... *cries*

Outlaws .Classic Lucas Arts western shooter. It was bitch to make it work on Win7 x64 machine but i made it . It surprisingly complex for something that use basic raycasting engine . And those hand animated cut scenes are gorgeous ,audio is superb and soundtrack is heavily inspired by old spaghetti westerns.Gunplay is good enough and well im sucker for spaghetti westerns so im having a lot of fun.

As a formerly huge gamer (started slowing down after I bought 500+ games and realized most games are either uninspired or limited by low budget), Overwatch has been the game I've been playing nonstop like no other. Best shooter to come out in years, by far. It's ridiculously polished, plays incredibly smoothly, and is very balanced compared to its competitors (still has balance issues, McCree literally outclasses every non-Tracer offense and Lucio outclasses all supports). Giving nearly every hero headshots is a great addition to the TF2 formula, and every ultimate feels extremely meaningful to a team situation.

Other than that, it's just League of Legends, Tales of Maj'Eyal, and Diablo III. Same old.

Also, don't laugh, but I just played through Half-Life for the first time. I played it around the early 00s for the first time, but wasn't into it and didn't get very far. I finished it pretty quickly now, but it was a bit of a let-down after all the hype. The best game ever, really?

When you play it as a kid and put it in context, yeah, one of the best.
I still remember the excitement of buying it at the store. That and Diablo.

Playing Gothic 1 now, it is a slow start and gameplay/control scheme is rather off-putting, but I've heard too many good things to give up (and also since I bought the trilogy and want to try the second one too).

Also, don't laugh, but I just played through Half-Life for the first time. I played it around the early 00s for the first time, but wasn't into it and didn't get very far. I finished it pretty quickly now, but it was a bit of a let-down after all the hype. The best game ever, really? Deux Ex, System Shock 2 and Thief were all better games, IMO, and that's only accounting for first-person games from the same era. Game was linear as fuck, no story reason to push on like you do - you only get where you're going by several convenient, unpredictable accidents (like falling from a pipe into the exact corridor you need to get to, although you had no reason to be in that pipe in the first place), and it wasn't really challenging. But it was a fun, captivating ride nonetheless. Good but not stellar.

Hahahaha coool! Btw actually half life game is for group of people playing interactively, or also online.. If you play it singlely then i also consider its like killtime stuff.. Its game for group ppl which is why popular and famous cuz group ppl funs each other.. Anyway you werent into, it is right resonable cuz if you truly into game as like arts fan then half life is just dick game.. I play it long ago but not getting joy besides interactive with ppl quite annoyed, lost team hates winning team, and its very popular game in asia.

Mostly:
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO): Random fragging every now and then.. I don't follow the whole league and tournies, just casually. Cheaters and smurfs ruin a lot of the game's fun though.. (but those are everywhere I guess)
- Cities Skylines: Best city building and planning game to this day, imo. Also play it casually, laying out roads and "designing" some projects here and there. Relaxing game, but time flies too fast when playing it.

other:
Pro Evo Soccer, NBA 2K, GTAV, .. and a ton of other games in my steam-library I haven't yet bothered with..

Just started Underrail. Holy fuck it's good. The gameplay is really interesting, so many build options and different strategies. It's an isometric turn-based RPG blatantly inspired by Fallout 1 & 2 and infinitely superior to them in terms of playability. The story and dialogue I have yet to form an opinion on, but it seems pretty vanilla and has not been so highly praised, so if that's all you cared about in Fallout then don't get your hopes up. You're playing a single character in a post-apocalyptic underground cave/railway system, but thanks to the number of action points and different tools you have, there's actually more tactics to a turn than if you played a full party.

If you dig old-school turn-based RPGs, get it. Could be the best thing the genre has had to offer in years, certainly deeper than the great Shadowrun relaunches.

You're right. It's smooth and polished with varied and fairly well balanced classes but while the beta was fun for a while it got old for me very quickly. Definitely not my type of MPFPS. I hate how team oriented it is. I hate how short some of the the game modes are. I hate how most of my teammates don't realise you gotta be near the cargo to move it. I hate how you spawn 3 light years away from the action so if you're a brute it takes 3 centuries to reach the action. I hate how it takes a good minute for shit to even start. If you've got a thesis due in 3 days and you just need a game to play it's defs the game to choose. So long spent idle and waiting for shit to start it kills me ;-;

While I don't like how short the games are (I literally had a 1 min 19 second win that played exactly like this video, same map, same hero, same "clean up first fight and ult second fight"), I don't think the spawns are too bad in terms of running back. Defense is far back for a reason, a teamwipe for defense should be a significant blow if you don't have a teleporter up. If anything, the attacking team spawns TOO close to the action. With two equally skilled teams, attack will always win. It's not a matter of if you win, it's when. Three attackers dying is far less punishing than three defenders dying. And with how many push-oriented ultimates there are (Lucio, Zenyatta, Winston, D.Va), there is no need for attackers to be punished so lightly for their deaths. The competitive scene is taking a "stopwatch" approach by giving points to whichever team wins faster, because otherwise every game would end up being tied.

The team aspect of the game makes it painful to play soloqueue, but that is why it's a blast to play with friends. Even playing with bad friends is better than playing solo.

I have 53 hours played, excluding beta time. The game isn't even two weeks old yet. I think I have a problem.

This smells like a whole lotta bad game design if you ask me.

The game is brand new and hasn't had any balance patches yet, and Blizzard is looking into the issue. And if they could take the utter piece of shit that was Diablo 3 and make it actually good with Reaper of Souls, I'm pretty sure they can take an already great game in Overwatch and fix the issues.

Furi: Difficult dodge n parry based CQC + bullet hell boss rush game thing. Boss fights last 10-20 minutes. Synthwave OST. People going nuts over the OST. Some great hits but a bit of filler tracks I feel. The game itself is great to play ( with a controller). Maybe a tad pricey at $25 though.

Inside: By the guys who made Limbo. Spiritual successor. Great colour palette, atmosphere, mood etc. Very brooding. Quite mindfucky. Very good game.

Witcher 3 DLCs: I fucking love this game so much and the DLCs made me love it even more.

I finished Inside in one sitting. Considering I have troubles with ADD that's really saying something. God... in a year with Dark Souls 3, Doom, and many other great games, this might actually end up being my GOTY.

Inside strikes me as a game that would be incredibly fun to watch, although I think some of the weight of the ending would feel lost without actually controlling the game.

The only problem I have is that it runs Denuvo, so I can never play it offline even though it seems like exactly the kind of game I'd want to play if my internet was down for a few hours.

Will defo grab it in a sale. Youtube's inferior compression quality was all too evident during the playthrough. But yeah, would be a decent portable game too I suspect. Interesting that it had Denuvo. I wonder how much it set them back to get that. I heard it's like $100,000 to get it implemented.

Bought Necropolis. Spent half an hour getting it to work (doesn't work with Razer headphones), finally played it. It was awful. I refunded it.

The main problem is the combat. It's been marketed as a Dark Souls clone, but the combat feels more like an extremely floaty clone of Ocarina of Time instead. Plus their idea of difficulty is throwing 10 enemies at you as opposed to anything that might take brainpower. I'd give it a miss if I were you, or at least wait until there's a sale.

It's a great game. I'm not sure how I feel about people losing their minds over it calling it one of the best games they've ever played when they have absolutely 0 clue on what's going on. That's so 'prisoner of the moment' to me

That's probably why some people think it's the best thing they've ever played. Much like films, the best ones for me are the ones that don't explain everything (or much of anything) and keep you thinking way after it's done. I've thought about Inside quite a lot the past few days. Things that explain everything to death don't really last beyond the time playing / watching it for me. Bit like Dark Souls, eeeeh?

I agree. This is one my girlfriend and I have been talking about since we played it. I've finished it 3 times now, and each it seems I've noticed something new (look at the light on the diorama, for instance). That puzzling over what has happened works especially well in a short game like this, since a playthrough is about an hour long.

Sure. I understand that. I have no issue with ambiguity. It's just that at the end of it all I was like "that's it?". I expected more but at the same time didn't consider the $20 a waste of money.

Get the hidden ending

To be fair, Dark Souls 3's secret ending is like 20 seconds long, if that.

Hope you got ample spare time. That game is a doozy. Took me 180hrs for vanilla and 2nd PT 227 hours with both DLCs. Would be ~260 if I did all the contracts and cleared all the ? marks.

I game an hour or two a night and some time on weekends depending upon social calendar.

the last game i got was Fallout4 (and Far Harbor/Automaton) and made it to level like 101 before moving on.

i played WOW for years, even when i ddin't like the totality of what was going on would focus on an aspect or two i liked.

as a younger dude with a hot computer or ps2 i pissed away probably a ocuple thousand dollars on games, many of which sucked, lost my interest, or were never completed.

now i prefer to get games that will endure and last and keep me entertained for a long while. and Diablo 3 which is great for blaring metal and guzzling booze after a stressful day and when my wife goes to a shie-shie ladies only wine & cheese tasting .

Been playing Rainbow Six Siege since it's free on Steam this weekend. I like the game a lot, it's basically what I wish Counter Strike was. It's super tactical, fun, and really tense.

However, the game is really hard to love. To get this game to start I had to turn off UPnP which was annoying. Then I had to deal with fucking Uplay giving me an aneurysm. Seriously, how does it take an hour for my friends to receive a friend request? Not to mention the community can be pretty toxic. I had one dickhead repeatedly kill me and tell me to quit because I was useless... after he blew up the hostage twice.

Despite all of this I can't stop playing. It's pretty good.

Playing Ocarina of Time, at Death Mountain heading for the temple, now. It is really interesting to experience these classics without any nostalgia and notice they are, to this day, excellent games. (Got Link to the Past, Windwaker and Majora's Mask on my list next, that's probably enough Zelda.) There are some annoyances, like aiming your ranged weapons with a controller is a fucking nuisance (dunno how much it's a matter of mapping N64 controls to an XBox controller, though) and some of the "secrets" are just random shit. Overall, though, the world and level design is great, the puzzles simple enough not to resort to cheating or memorizing everything you come across, but creative enough to give a joy of discovery. The combat is surprisingly solid for its age, I had expected much worse, and the boss design so far has been good. I wouldn't necessarily put it up there as the greatest game of all time, as many do, but it's a great game that stands the test of time.

I had the same the same experience with Ocarina Of Time something like 7-8 years ago. No nostalgia involved, still loved the hell out of it. The Shadow Temple is probably one of the absolute greatest levels/areas in the history of video games. The water temple was an absolute nightmare however, almost made me quit the game. I spent more than 8 hours there and occasionally checked with walkthroughs. If it wasn't for that dreadful place, I might place OoT in my all time top 10 games.
