Thoreau's shrewd diagnosis of life: "Truth needs only two groups of people to surface - some to express it and others to hear it." Negură Bunget have done the first part by unfettering another Transilvanian beast, to roam the dark rainswept streets of Romania, under the name of Vîrstele Pămîntului. It would be unwise to spurn the quest to discovering the concealed hoards of Negură Bunget's sixth proud album just because it doesn't live up to the standards set by its predecessors, Om and Maiestrit to name a few. All that we have to do is to hear it as it winds paths through the cold mountains of the legendary Dacia. I have already done that, and here's my story...

Its here Looks like they found their sound in Om and now are mantaining the formula.

This album is a lot more folk than OM, still with the nice Black metal ethereal atmosphere, but not as good as the previous. Another great album.

It's obvious that the difference, after two main members left, is there but the album is wonderful ! Great !

Got Mayhem?
Much more ambient and folk than Om and I must admit that I'm enjoying it more than I did Om, which was a brilliant album in its own right.

Hell, I'd argue this album is more interesting and shows way better musicianship than Om by far, just me though I suppose.

I suppose the musicianshipo has improved but the song writing feels like its trying to be Om, while only grasping a few of the elements which Om managed to utilize. Its hard to say but the songs just seem more "linear". Don't get me wrong there is ALOT of interesting ideas in each song, it just doesn't feel as organic or wholistic in concept so to say. This seemed to focus a bit more on the folk (with those dark folk sectioms being pretty interesting bits). Sadly I have to admit that despite all of these interesting ideas they just don't make the songs themselves all that interesting. Not a bad album but not quite as strong as Om or their previous album of 2010.

I think I'm starting to like it even more than "OM"... It's so delicate and atmospheric, there isn't any track I want to skip. <3

'OM' was a very good album indeed, but this one has just as much emotion and atmosphere in it. The use of their otherworldly instruments is here in spades, and consequently used to great effect. Its also the album that got me into the band, so to say i haven't bee a fan for that long, they certainly have an effect on their listeners.

Negura Bunget is a joke. This band exists IN NAME ONLY. Hupogrammos and Sol Faur (now "Dordeduh") were responsible for creating the Negura Bunget sound. They left in 2010 leaving only the drummer. Since then Negru (drums) has hired musicians to impersonate the sound previously established by Sol Faur (Dordeduh) and Hupogrammos (Dordeduh) which in my opinion is abominable. "Verstele Pamintului" was a good album and I accepted the new guitarists Spin and Korb and the new vocalist Ageru as valid new musicians. At this time I accepted this incarnation of Negura Bunget as a legitimate band. Since then Spin and Korb were fired. They went on to form Syn Ze Sais Tre, who are fantastic. "Poarta De Dincolo" was then released after "Verstele.." with new guitarists;Urzit and Fulmineos. They managed to release a truly mediocre e.p. I have come to learn that in 2012 NB vocalist, Ageru has been fired and replaced by Stefan. There is no authenticity left in Negura Bunget. It's a group of musicians trying to carry on what was done with Negura Bungets greatest opus, "OM". If you want the real thing. Listen to "Dordeduh". "Dordeduh" creates music the current Negura Bunget line-up can not even dream of touching. "Dordeduh" are the true Romanian masters of black metal. "Negura Bunget" is a sham.
