Back with the real NWOBHM sound Judas Priest kick the metal ass again. (They did too with British Steel, but I didn't like that album, it's predecessor and successor are way better). Still rocking but this time no real weak song, only the title track falls slightly behind compared to the rest of the material, though the solo is very cool.

This is what British Steel should have been- It is the perfect combination of mainstream accesibility and metalic furry. Even the more commercial tracks, such as You've Got Another Thing Coming and Bloodstone. have enough force behind them to appease to metalheads. Not to mention a far superior performance from every band member- Hey, this album actually has lots of solo's, which British Steel sadly lacked, and wailing vocals from Halford.

Exactly my thoughts.

Although I slightly prefer "Defenders Of The Faith" over this one, it's still an absolute classic, filled with absolutely amazing songs! Songs like the title track and "Devil's Child" are a bit undervalued in Priest's catalogue, but are every bit as vital as accepted classics like "Electric Eye" and " You've Got Another Thing Comin'". Priest have recorded several albums that deserve to be called seminal, and classic metal albums, and this is definitely one of them.

So, you admit that Painkiller lays down its sword to the awesomeness of Screaming?

Awesome!

I stand by mine too. Painkiller is THE metal album IMO. It has everything. Just everything. Screaming's good, but nowhere near Painkiller.

What's wrong with "(Take These) Chains"? I think it's an awesome song! Although I can see how people who have an aversion to more commercial sounding stuff wouldn't like it.

Because whilst I think Defenders is a slightly better album in terms of really strong songs, it also contains one song that I don't like. Screaming... has no songs I don't like, but I feel it's amount of truly great songs is slightly less than that of Defenders.

Yeah i agree. I think both albums are on the same level, and to me on top of the list of best heavy metal albums ever made but im curious what's the song u don't like? Heavy Duty? cause Pain And Pleasure isn't any better ...

The song I don't like is "Heavy Duty". And whilst "Pain And Pleasure" is perhaps the weakest track on Screaming... I'd take it over "Heavy Duty" any day of the week! lol

My favorite Priest album, perfect blend of catchy and heavy songs. Several awesome standouts like "Bloodstone" and the title track, and "You Got Another Thing Coming" is always a pleasure to hear on the radio. It's such a classic.

Everyone keeps talking about Bloodstone or You Got Another Thing Comin' or even the lame Take These Chains, but what about Riding On The Wind? Truly underrated and soaring song.

Even Prisoner Of Your Eyes is a beautiful song.

Rob is metal god, this is legendary band, that's why this album worked out. Todays band would suck, because this is weak album, 2 good songs, rest is below Priest level.

I had very high expectations with this album ... I think too high, of course there are songs like The "Hellion/Electric Eye", "Riding On The Wind", "(Take These) Chains", "Pain And Pleasure" and " Screaming For Vengeance ", but the other songs the other four I feel a little weak, do not get me wrong, I think it's a good album, only I'm not a fan of is this. It is just my opinion

A big one, certainly one of their best albums. Pretty much "a huge fan of the album overall" ^
But also a lot of 80s cheese to find here, which is at times somewhat hard to digest for me nowadays.

Killer intro, Electric Eye is a great song, then some pretty decent songs w/o super impressive songwriting until The Title Track and You've Got Another Thing Comin'. It might seem that I'm rating the album too low BUT I still think it's probably the third best JP album. I agree w/ Maco that Devil's Child could actually be the best song here and it sounds almost something like AC/DC did do on Highway to Hell.
