Cynic seem to have a good quality: courage. They were brave enough to release something like Carbon-Based Anatomy, for better or worse. So what do they have for us this time? In a nutshell, they grab some of Traced In Air's peaceful and dreamy sounds, add some ethnic/tribal elements, a touch of world music, plus very rare incursions through their heavier side, which is currently at the risk of extinction. Maybe that is the meaning of this incredible artwork, some of the textures are being scraped off in order to create a new painting. But everything is still blurry at this stage.

Seriously want. So far I've loved all albums, prefer focus, but still don't see why Traced in Air get bagged on so much. The music is still amazing.

I loved "Traced In Air", but I can see why a lot of people didn't like it. Obviously I think most people were expecting another "Focus", and weren't excpecting "Traced In Air" to be so different compared to it. It was a very daring album, but when you make something so different, then some people are bound to not like it.

Thats true, but then everyone ripped the fuck out of Atheist for sounding the same... people just need to get over themselves.

I actually remember arguing that exact point when people were complaining about the new Athiest for sounding the same... No matter what a band does, there will be some people who will complain about it. Bands get criticised for changing, but bands also get criticised for not changing, so you can''t win! You can't please everyone, it's just impossible.

"The Quaker"
The cover makes me think it will be a mixture of the both the Focus-era and Traced In Air.

"Sean Malone - bass, chapman stick"

Yes, the chapman stick!

I think the album art usually says a lot as its purpose is usually to capture the energy or feeling an album has in a picture. This album art is being dark, mysterious looking and the title is scientific yet philosophical sounding. From the looks of it, it should be an good release.

I love how people are scrying through the artwork and album/song titles to try and predict what the music will sound like... hippies.

Well, album art is usually meant to serve as something that represent the music, to the listener or someone thinking about picking up the album. It just doesn't seem right to put a pink unicorn and rainbows on brutal gore themed death metal album. Just my speculations though, and considering the last album wasn't very metal, it looks like this one might be more metal....and this intrigues me as I sort of lost hope for some metal metal from cynic.

I think pink unicorns and rainbows are one of the most brutal things there are!

I was very impressed with their last EP Re Traced which was having quite a good smashing songs but CBA is like Uhm...Ahh...Satisfactory imo. Not that killer stuff which I was looking for up but still due a full length CD hitting in 2012. That I am actually looking forward and excited what they gonna do from their last spectacular release Traced In Air.

I can't wait for this to be released.

From what I've heard so far , I'm glad that they constantly expand their sound. They are one of the few bands that can execute experimentation perfectly, unlike others *cough* Lulu *cough*.

It's very tranquil and hopefully they will keep up with this variety.
