Algorithm Ov Void - We Are All Nothing http://www.myspace.com/algorithmovvoid Algorithm Ov Void play slow, droning (Depressive) Black metal with slow, droning harsh growls and slow, repetitive drums. We Are All Nothing is as new and fresh as your grandma. Ok, so they're not going to win any prizes for originality, but they are fairly enjoyable. The guitar has a nice 'slit my wrists, now sinking into a warm bath to meet my much desired end'-tone to it (yes, there's a particular tone for that) and the two songs meander forwards in a very soothing manner, enough to completely zone out to. We Are All Nothing is everything but groundbreaking, but for the diehard fan of the genre it'll provide twenty minutes of good, clean fun. by Lucas

Insidious Omen - Anointed With The Blood Of Chaos Official Website Featuring an extremely limited tape-only release back in 2009, Anointed With The Blood Of Chaos is a menacing raw EP that has since been re-released by Ahdistuksen Aihio Productions. Insidious Omen prove once again to be one of the more primitive occult black metal outfits, their style a mix of straightforward dissonance and atmospheric filth. The 30-minute journey proves to be rather arduous, but there are enjoyable moments throughout the journey that garner the band enough respect to consider them worth keeping an eye on in the near future. by Troy Gallant

Innumerable Forms - Dark Worship http://www.myspace.com/innumerableforms Innumerable Forms' Dark Worship is A-class, top-notch, outstanding stuff. This project of Justin Detore, global celebrity for playing in Funebrarum, delivers ultra-dark, ultra-heavy and ultra-sick Blackened Death metal. Nothing unique, nothing groundbreaking or mind-bogglingly innovative, but just a whole lot of fan for the lover of darkened, old school and dirty Death metal. It's got all you can ask for: a damp sound, razorriffs, thundering drums, monstruous grunts and basssssssssss. Rotten, rough and rrrrrridiculously enjoyable. by Lucas

A Deeper Dreed - Masquerade http://www.myspace.com/adeeperdreed The one thing about short demos like this - you can't always get an accurate feel of what the band is all about. The music gives the impression that this is a hard piece of melodic rock n roll. It's heavy in all the right places, melodic in all the right places...but the vocals speak for the contrary a lot of the time. They're kind of on that borderline between 90's alt rock, and mainstream pop rock, yet they're to raw and undefined to lean to either side of the fence too much. Taken at face value, Masquerade is actually quite an impressive little EP. by Luke Godin

High Rise Fall - Morbide Unterhaltungsmusik http://www.myspace.com/highrisefall Ok, whoa, damn...Why haven't I been hearing this band name everywhere yet? This is an extraordinary blend of heavy, groovin' thrash metal with a wholesome injection of black metal. It's got that driving force that you would find in a Deströyer 666 album...but even Deströyer 666 seems pretty restrained compared to this! It's got that menacing aggression, but still has a really infectious rhythmic quality to it. Few bands have knocked me on my ass as hard as this for a while. A must-hear for anyone into any kind of thrash, death, or black metal. Seriously, go to their myspace, pop on the track "Anthropophag", and just try to not pound your head frantically. Hittegods - Let It Burn Official Website Oh sweet Jesus, the track names, the cover artwork...this all seems a little dated. Well, dated or not, it is pretty catchy. Granted, this isn't the most aggressive or ambitious EP you'll hear this year, but it sort of hits that same nostalgia spot that bands like AC/DC and Deep Purple do. It's a straight-forward classic rock sound, a firm grip on some cheesy rock n' roll sentimentality all delivered with a nice DIY charm. Let It Burn is not mind-blowing by any stretch, but it's a nice mellow inclusion into any classic rock, Saturday-evening-BBQ-playlist. by Luke Godin
