By 1987 Dokken was crumbling due to the clashing personalities of vocalist Dokken and guitarist Lynch. But instead of breaking up just yet, the latter took the bull by the horns and lay down his strongest set of riffs, runs, leads and solos yet. And to top it all, the band obviously had more control of the album (record executives must have been happy the band was recording at all) resulting in a great instrumental, a heavier production (though not as heavy as Tooth And Nail) and a very long record. Neither spectacular nor special in any way, just your basic 80's pop metal with the hypnotizing guitar wizardry of maestro George Lynch. In other words I like it a lot more than I probably should.
