Do you miss the time when Nightwish was just being? Nightwish instead of Night-Pirates-Of-The-Caribbean-Disney-Wish? Then there are those that still wish Tarja hadn't left in the first place. With all due respect to Tuomas Holopainen's current expansive palette of musical ideas, I do think Nightwish's back catalogue is a major reason why they have such a massive following.

Hmm to be honest when I heard their song "Valentine" I was really impressed. It sounds like an old Nightwish album. Manuella has a really good soprano-trained voice, very similar to Tarja. When this album will be released I'll jump at the chance and listen to it !

And don't forget to buy it An enjoyable album, full of old Symphonic Gothic style. Probably a unique example in Female fronted scene, that taking step back to old sound, gives an opportunity to step two steps forward. Best Xandria album!

I've only ever heard bits a pieces from this band, but this sounds really good at the moment. A Nightwish clone but well done nevertheless. "Cursed" is my favourite so far.

The album is very VERY good, but not a masterpiece at any standards. A few excellent songs, a few average ones and the rest, good. At the moment (after a few full listens) its getting an 8/10 from me. Soulcrusher in particular is a killer.

India and Ravenheart are nice albums, although they're not quite the same style or at least the production isn't so ambitious as in the new album.

...by the way, I'm also very surprised. Never thought that Xandria would fill the void Nightwish left.

I've never been a fan of Xandria, but since the critics to this album have being so good i got it and i listening to it right now. I got to say; they really went to a LOT of effort to be mention and to make remarkable mark in their story, i'm very happy for them, and they just got a new fan

I didn't know anything about this band before I heard this album, and I must say I'm pretty pleased about it.
It indeed reminds me - maybe a bit too much actually - some old Nightwish, especially "Century Child" and "Once" albums.
I would give it a 7.5 if I could. I gave 8 because 7 would be too low I think... "Neverworld's end" is better than "good"

Agree. The sad thing about it is the lack of originality.

Yea, still the unoriginal Nightwish thing definitely makes up for it bombastic heavy sound and great female vocals. Better than most (what most people call Nightwish clones) bands like Visions of Atlantis etc. I don't even think Visions... will top this album.

I don't think VoA will do better but I would like Xandria to find their own sound instead of this. Still a great album but could be better with some originality, I guess. They have talented musicians, they could have done something more original I think.

The past is the future.

For the last few years the female fronted genre has been getting weaker and weaker. All of the well known bands have been watering down their metal sound and heading towards different directions. Nightwish, Within Temptation, Sirenia to name but a few.

Imagine if Tarja hadn't left Nightwish and Tuomas hadn't watched Pirates Of The Caribbean on DVD. This is the album that should have followed Century Child.

There are elements of Oceanborn on Euphoria, Once on Soulcrusher and Century Child on Valentine. The new singer's voice is VERY similar to Tarja's. The main difference that makes them not just a Nightwish tribute band is the guitars. You could tell that the solo's in a Nightwish song were written by a keyboard player. With the new Xandria album the guitars are far more integral to the sound. Just listen to the Soulcrusher intro to see what I mean.

The weird thing is, Valentine, the single, is one of the weakest songs on the album. Listen to A Prophecy Of Worlds To Fall, its so epic.

I fear for the new Epica album now. I can't see anyone topping this for a long time.

Absolutely nailed it. Can't agree with you more, the competition is gonna be so tense between Epica and Xandria to top and claim the symphonic metal album of the year, since Epica's samples and songs so far don't seem bad at all.

You're the resident Nightwish fan here, but I believe Emppu wrote all his solos, as it is the practice usually my sister informs me he did the riff for The Siren, and possibly some else.

Simply stunning! Nightwish, the good and old Nightwish of Tarja, Tuomas (not the Jack Sparrow one), Marco and co., reborns in the blood of the new(born) Xandria. There isn't any lack of originality, but a review of past, searching for the spark that genre had lost.

I believe Xandria has just overtaken Nightwish as the premier symphonic metal band on the planet. Kraller is simply brilliant and the compositions are incredible. This is what Nightwish SHOULD sound like. Thank you Xandria!!

So far i like it! Definitely a Nightwish copy which is kinda lame tho. I wish they just distinguished themselves a lil more and it would be perfect. if Nightwish never existed id give this album a 10 no doubt, but theres no way i could do that considering its lack of originality.

Prolly a solid 8...maybe 9... we'll see.
