Probably it's a folding package with different images outside/inside/elsewhere like 10000 Days?

That's what I was thinking, but on torrents and such there has been different cover art.

It's the MADNESS!

This album had a great influence on my music taste when I was a young teenager, I am so thankful for it's release. It's truly a work of art and very weed friendly. It sucks how there's always a 5-6 year gap between new Tool albums though.

One of the very few 10 I'll ever give.

Defiantly great album, they paid attention to every single detail of it. My fav record of 00's

Every single song on this album is incredible. Its a pity that this Band has only released 4 studio albums.

10,000 Days is my favorite, but I think this album is amazing also! So many classics on here like Ticks and Leeches, Schism, Parabola, and Disposition.

Far better than Aenima. But still I think this album is a little bit overrated.

Fun Lateralus anecdote.

Over here in BS. AS. we have these events on weekends where some of these heavily conceptual and masterfully produced albums (or not) are played in a blind theatre (that's basically, all lights out and some good speakers).
So one day it was the turn of Lateralus, everything went good until the rather long silence in Triad before Faaip De Oaid. Just a minute of it had passed and all the lights were turned on as if the album was over and the people went apeshit of course
Whole experience totally ruined.

Prog problems The last song is kinda creepy, listening to it in a dark room with high volume can be a nice experience... it's a great album ending.
And come on, it's the last part of the album, you've been sitting there all that time they might as well let you finish the album properly.
Of course, once they interrupted that like that it's in vain to hear it afterwards

I do like the last track. It's really short compared to the length of the album and also, is a good ending to this record. Generally, I appreciate these shorter and minimalist tracks on this record. As for those silent moments spread in this record, they are seemingly included to obscure that hidden "holy gift" thing.

Its Tool

My first album of the band after many suggestions that i should check them out. i can see why this was influential. my problem is that i lost my interest somewhere between all those interludes/empty musical moments. it's a great album to play when you are working or generally being busy with something but it's really tiring to sit down for 78 minutes to enjoy finally about 30-35 minutes of (really good) music..

In the 4-5 years since I first discovered this album, my favourite song has drifted from Lateralus, to Parabola, to Schism, to Ticks & Leeches, to The Grudge, but now I've seen the light and accepted that Reflection is the standout song here. It's so wonderfully hypnotic (an effect helped even more by Disposition preceding it), and layers such a well-judged way as to allow everything to develop in its own time without ever losing its charm. Plus, it's one of the best demonstrations of how MJK's vocals manage to be emotionally charged and evocative whilst still sounding distant and never becoming overly dramatic or histrionic. The whole album is such an incredible display of diversity and inspiration, but that song is just magnificent

Exactly what a Limp Bizkit fan would say.

I tried to give this album several chances at different points in my life. Finally I have to rate it but I wasn't hasty to do it and I am doing it 10 years after discovering this album. I don't like it, even though some bass lines accompanied by the drum patterns are very innovative and progy but I just can't enjoy this album almost at all. The big hype around it all time didn't help me to like it more so I guess to me this is not an enjoyable album.

This is the best Tool album. It is the most matured, most consisted, most polished, most groovy, most well-thought-out Tool work. When I heard it for the first time 18 years ago, I knew that Tool won't be able to top it. I was right. 10000 was like B-sides of this album. Fear Inoculum is even worse. I was a huge Tool fan back in the day. Now, I don't mind about them. Anyway: Lateralus is Tool Opus Magnum.

I'm not the biggest Tool fan (a bit too drawn-out for my tastes), but this album is definitely worth a 9 and is easily their best album.

It's an album with a great mathematical concept, the rhythm is seriously complex, the tempo changes are unpredictable, and there's all different kinds of melodies and structures going on that it's genuinely hard to keep up tbh. The drumming is a real masterclass display, amongst the best I've heard hear in all metal. It's certainly a unique and well crafted progressive (in it's own kinda way) masterpiece, but I can understand why some metalheads won't take to this.
