Amazing

Seriously this is sitting at 9.0 with 130 votes? You guys are digging the shit out of this album! I only hope I was one of you.. let me explain: most of the transitions here just seem sloppy and jumbled, some parts of the songs don't mesh with the others and It feels like the songwriter shoved sections in songs just because he can.

Now to the good things, ' In Lands of Ashes ' is probably one of the best atmospheric songs I've ever had the pleasure of listening. ' Loss ' is another awesome song which I have little flaws with.. Nihil is very cool also, I like the it's ending theme particularly from minute 10 and on..
The vocals are epic, in the whole meaning of the word.. the production is also very, very good. It's just that some songs just don't click with my brain.. I had high expectations seeing this is one of the highest rated albums on metalstorm with so many votes and was dissapointed..

In the future I might give this a listen while driving or while in a very good mood and try to look at it with a different eye and maybe I might love it, I can sense the heart of this album, I might someday understand the album and I will be drooling over it, but that day won't be today or tomorrow..

- Sounds very pretentious to Black Metal fans due to the elegant atmosphere created by the piano.
- This kind of album definitely can not sell well in the market, in the first place they've created confusion to the listeners.

How do you mean flimsy, may I ask?

Just in terms of overall heaviness. The classical/symphonic approach distracts me from what would otherwise be an incredible album, but that's just a matter of personal taste. Reminds me of the reason I don't like Opeth - the extreme aspects are so well done, but their softer melodic moments ruin the experience for me.

If they sell out of everything they put on there then why should they close down? Clearly they're good at selling all their stock Blood Music honour their limited edition music merch by not re-selling stuff they already once did.

Blood Music has a very dedicated following, and only presses things if (1) they think it's a cool idea/something never got a vinyl release or (2) if there is overwhelming demand for it. The fact that it's sold out just means that they pressed something people wanted. You make way too many assumptions about shit you don't actually know anything about.

Most people unfortunately tend to overrate the albums of the past, when they were young and had great times. This is probably why the albums from the 80's and 90's are over-rated and over-represented in the Top 200. Not because they were better than today's bands. Many albums in the 2010's Top 100 list deserve to be in the Top 200 ... and especially this one.

Yeah, it still kicks ass. "Nihil" must be one of the most beautiful songs ever.

It's first time I love Neo-classical BM.

I have a love/hate relationship with this album. On the one hand I love it, it is simply great and it inspires me to create (or rather to attempt to create) something in the same vein. On the other hand, this is so good that it makes me feel like giving up completely, as I will most likely never reach this level of songwriting.

the word overrated means giving a value that does not identify or say it is the best when it is not. nobody here has overrated, it's just a good album, like it or not.

Nice atmosphere, well worked album, but I believe it is overrated by the aspect of not representing as first or unique the genres used.
