I start with saying that Origin as a whole has influences from early Katatonia. However I can't give a precise hint where exactly I hear it in the songs, though there is a whole melancholic atmosphere which reminds of early Katatonia works. Yet it differs so much because Katatonia, back in the day, sounded much more doomier, harsher and of course very original.

The middle section of the first track is beautiful. Post metal passage ftw!

I don't know who hear "gothic doom" in this album, but this one should listen to this once again.

This is amazing! Didn't think it would be so engaging but wow.

At times, the guitars and mood remind me of a faster version of Forest of Shadows - Departure, a doom gem that few have matched.

I suppose I may also call this "gothic doom" or some blending of those two genres, but only because I can't think of anything else to call it. Those who disagree, what do YOU call it?

Been excited about this for months, in fact I pre-ordered their album based purely on the strength of 'the two songs 'Nightwave' & 'Brighter' which they made available back in August/September of last year. After fully digesting the album over the last few days I can say it did not disappoint. It's definitely one of my favourite releases of 2013 so far.

As for the Gothic doom tag, I kinda agree with how the band tag themselves, Melodic Death/Doom.

Superb album, the atmosphere is so good and compelling to the max. It's Slumber reborn with the atmosphere of Atoma. Didn't hook me in first time, but its getting better with every listen.

I agree, awesome stuff!

Actually I'd say this is atmospheric doom though. It reminds me a bit of Ixion, but faster.

I could see atmo death/doom or melodic death/doom as well. Not trying to get too hung up on genres, but this made me curious!

Nice little surprise of an album

it's pretty predictable to hear awesome music from the guys of Slumber/Atoma though .

Great album. Better than Atoma's debut in my opinion.

Although I feel it could've been better since a few tracks feel a bit too short.

I can't see gothic at all. Maybe it's because I don't want to? LoL. Knowing the band members are from Fractal Gates, Atoma and Slumber I am swayed to hear more melodic metal with a dab of atmospheric rock.

I am really liking this ATM. Think Atoma and Fractal Gates merged. I only wish the songs/album was longer. It leaves me wanting more.

Top 5 of the year stuff. Beautifully crafted and atmospheric melodic death/doom. I think 'Cinders' has to be my favourite track but 'Nightwave' is up there with it.

I wonder why this album is not on the chart top of 2013 as it has higher rating than most of albums that are on it already?

Interesting that I got a bit of an AtomA vibe when I first listened to this (not that they outright sound exactly like AtomA, but some of their melodies reminded me of them)... then I found out it has an ex-member of AtomA! Fancy that!

Anyways, I dig it.

Quite average gothic doom this. Yes there are quite a few gothic elements in it. Like the riffing and the keyboards. The riffing is as uneventful and unoriginal as it gets with it clearly borrowing from Draconian Times and One Second era Paradise Lost.

Listened to a few songs and I'd have to agree with this. I liked the atmosphere quite a bit, but the riffs were so boring it was just entirely off-putting :/
