We have implemented a new option on band profiles...multiples labels. It's pretty self explanatory, but just in case, with this you can add multiple labels to a band's profile for when bands have multiple label distribution contracts.

For example, Behemoth is signed to both Metal Blade and Nuclear Blast so we can now include them separately instead of having to do one or the other or both with a forward slash to include them both on the same line. Unfortunately there is no way to indicate which label is for which region, but you can still include both labels on the profile.

Feel free to ask questions and/or have a general discussion about this new option, and as always happy editing minions.

No, we don't want to use trivia for that since label contracts come and go. Trivia is for nifty info about the band that will never change and never have to be updated.

If the band has distribution contracts with both of those companies then yes, but if their contract is with Lupus Lounge, and Lupus Lounge just happens to be a sub label of Prophecy then no. The band's contract is with the sub label, not the parent label.

Too much to deal with to come up with a tree system like that, less complicated to just include the labels they have a contract with. And we can't include the countries like that because part of the point of having the label's is also so user's can click the labels to see what all other bands are on that label, so if we include the country like that then when a user clicks the label it will only show the band's listed as using the label for that specific region.

No, that's not what the label system is for, the label system is for indicating the labels that are providing the bands with advertising, new album distribution, and financial support for studio time, tours and merchandise; i.e. the labels that are actually paying the band's bills. That situation with the re-releases is just the band, or the label who owns the distribution rights for that music, giving that small time vinyl label permission to re-print, re-release, and re-distribute that old material for a percentage of whatever profit that little vinyl label makes on the sales of that old material.

Otherwise if we were going to include re-release distribution labels then some of the bands on here would have a shitload of different labels listed because some of them have multiple re-release distribution deals with small time CD, tape and vinyl distributors.

I agree with DT here. For example: Usurper disbanded a few years ago but I would still love to see Earache (last album) or Primitive Reaction (last label the band worked with, for their last official [re- (but don't put too much emphasis on that - it was only a light, semi-re-)]release) listed on their page for various reasons. Not least of which, to see, from whom their last CDs can be acquired, and also to see other bands that may have a connection to this band via the label, that often being a similar theme/style of metal, or sometimes even sharing members of the now-defunct band. /me vehemently disagrees with your "Yes, and yes." Good thread though, I like the idea behind it, and thanks for implementing.

Got that. It's just that I'm not sure is that all. Is their deal with BMG over? Their facebook page still lists Sony Music/Roadrunner Records, are those deals now gone?

Ok, well I was just going with what Troy instructed me to do when I first started contributing a couple years ago. I assumed it was just an unwritten site rule, and kept it alive out of ignorance.

That was one of the many rules Troy thought up himself.

I saw 1th time about removing lables 2-3 months ago when psyko did it (I look at logs), IMO I removed one lable , main think what I delite now is old/dead home pages what donte xist anymore , dead url, some weird porn side opens and so on

I liked Troy. I don't remember seeing him removing labels, or labels starting to disappear, but it's possible if he did it without commenting the edit. But like, at some point almost no one was commenting what they did, and that was quite frustrating, especially when there were senseless edits.

WWS was good. I've fixed many things by Bara, and I don't think there were many comments.

Bara , did comment sometimes, I can see old logos, WWS also did , but remeber those were 2008, staff did not follow rules, many lyrics was accepted wrong, many non capitalized songs, many other thinks
including me, my pendings was accepted wrong, I add many albums wrong, (caps) but we all did wrong
Now I try fix as many as I can remeber and find
but when I got perms, there was liek 1000 albums pending, IMO 2-3 000 eddits total

WWS was good. I've fixed many things by Bara, and I don't think there were many comments.

I don't recall seeing many edits from WWS, but I've corrected plenty of things from Bararey, and the only comments I can ever recall seeing from her are "+visible".

Anywho, glad to see the multi label change is so popular.

You know, it's great that people find their ways into the core of discussion. An alternative for mylistbox discussions.

I remember WWS sending me a very polite message about news being too old to be accepted or something. And I've seen some old edits by him. Thryce and Troy also sometimes gave some feedback (and also Bad English gave fedbak). And later BloodTears. But yeah, off-topic pretty much.

Basically, but I'm pretty sure he typed "arena" on purpose, the "n" is too far away from the "e" and "a" on the keyboard for that to be an accidental typo. And since he's European he's automatically a sports fan so the sports lingo is warranted.
