It is very hard to sing most genres of metal in any type of Romance language. Not impossible, many bands do it. But I think the majority of Italian and Spanish bands sing in English.

Harsh, Germanic languages just sound great in metal too.

Harsh, Germanic languages just sound great in metal too.

Spanish and Italian may not be suitable yeh....tho Italian will do well for Italian goth metal any time....
French is absolutely fine extreme vocals language....French simply has all these harsh and brootal phonetic characteristics which makes French lyrics ideal for expressing with screams, screeches, shrieks, growls etc....I quote Aes Dana "MEERRRRR D'GLACCE ET D'OMMBRRRRRRRREE!!!"/ ("Sea of ice and shadow." - see it doesn't sound far as bro0tal in English...)
Also....Romanian is Romance....and you all know how Negura Bunget sounds like....trust me...English/German/Swedish/Norwegian wouldn't suit them half as good.....

And Latin lyrics tend to make everything kvlt and necro....the hell, even lyrics bout flowers, angels and Virgin Mary and freshly baked cookies sound eerie and hideous in Latin....especially chorals....

The problem is that this is expressed in a way no one talks today, it's somehow like a very old poem and therefor hard to translate. There are even some words where I have no idea what they mean, like "gramgebeugt", "Cage" and "Cräumer". But anyway, I think it's great that you like Estatic Fear, because it's one of the best bands ever and they are from my country

Thanx a lot! Yeah, translating things, whatever they are, alsways makes the txt lose things to it, but in this case it was just to get a general idea of the thing. I had heard that the lyrcs from these guys were great, but i never knew what they said Their music is really gret also, so this is one of the reasons why learning german is on my wishlist thanx again!
