The Best Thrash Metal Album Of 2014

Pyromania is a serious condition and suffice to say, Overkill know their way around a thrash flint. Within the modern state of the genre where there's smoke, there's a bunch of seniors laying waste to their youthful contemporaries with ridiculous ease and an undying delight for incineration. These veterans always go in blazing.

New Overkill. Same old shit 3rd time in a row. I wish more bands recorded the same old shit 3 times in a row to such good effect. Screw modern copycats, listen to real thrash. Yeah, I know. Broken record syndrome - I always bash new thrash bands and praise Overkill. Judging by the quality of Overkill's recent output, it's not likely to change any time soon. Sue me.

Armorist is a cool song and doesnt show any sign of average, pretty much like Ironbound. They may not release Classic after Classic by this point, but every recent one maintains a certain level of quality. thats way more than what we can expect from a band of this status.

Just finished the third spin of White Devil Armorist. It is, indeed, a really good album, on the same level as Ironbound I might say. Every single song is a winner, the riffs are freshly agressive, bass and drums are all over the place and Bobby sounds angrier than ever. surprisingly its a strong Album of the Year contender.

What I've heard so far (only like four tracks) isn't even close to the quality of the two previous offerings, but still respectable. Have to listen to the full thing to get a good opinion.

I've only given it a once over, so this opinion may require revision, but I don't think it's as strong as Electric Age and Ironbound. Worthy of praise though, considering how long these guys have been going.

Was it the previous two albums that gave it away?

I enjoyed a lot the previous two. Is just that after hearing the new songs I felt worried because it seemed that they lost the fire they had in Ironbound or Electric Age.

I didn't say that this will be TOTALLY average. I just had a hunch, I'll see if I'm wrong or not. It's not pre-judging.

Surely it's up to the store owners to order those albums, not the label.

Lol, I don't see the prejudice in making a simple prediction, which judging on Overkill's entire career and recent material isn't baseless in any way. If he said "I bet this album will be great" it would be the exact same type of prediction, except since you personally like the album you wouldn't have gone album prejudice justice warrior mode.

Not really,
- I heard the shop owner said their Overkill last two albums are under one Canadian label, the label doesn't care about the sales of their artists in other countries except USA market, even refuse to sell their artists' albums overseas...
- Now this latest album is under Nuclear Blast and NB bought the copyright of Overkill's last 2 previous albums from the Canadian label as well, and now released 3 albums together...Nuclear Blast is another asshole, they only interested to sell their own titles on their own and purposely marked up very expensive to record shops...a lot of music shops actually have boycotted Nuclear Blast ! GREED...What a mess...

If anything, it's harder to find the older albums nowadays in comparison to the newer ones.

Not really...Years of Decay and Horrorscope are everywhere....many of my friends thought Overkill have retired as they haven't seen their "latest album" for almost one decade at any local music store.

Yeah I listened to three tracks from this album, couldn't finish it.

Not in Canada - or at least not in southern Ontario. I've seen several copies of their earliest releases sitting on the shelves at HMV and Sunrise Records.

Only old stuff I've ever seen lately is Years Of Decay and Horrorscope, but Ironbound and Electric Age have been numerous in copies. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
Then again, I've only ever shopped at big outlets. Just came back from FYE, and all I saw there was Under The Influence.

Definitely due to the geographic reason above said (because you're in Canada)...Overkill was like a "Canadian underground band" for the past 8-10 years...they're now "Germany underground band" !
Totally piss off for searching one album from heaven to hell...I will not buy any product if a company give their customers a hard time.

USA is considered the biggest market in the world especially in music...I don't think there's any problem to get any title there.
