EDIT²: Shouldn't the album title be Z² instead of Z2? In the teaser someone says "Zed squared" and on the cover it also looks like Z² and not Z2. Just saying.

Surprisingly, I like the Sky Blue one better.

Apparently, Anneke van Giersbergen will be returning, and Chris Jericho will guest star as Captain Spectacular and Dominique Lenore Persi (of Stolen Babies) will guest as the "War Princess".

Get hype.

Somehow I'm able to listen to the samples of all songs via iTunes and I can say that dark matters sounds very similar to Deconstruction, which is a good thing. Sky Blue sounds very good too. Now I'm totally hyped for the release!

WHAT R YU SAYING??!

no, seriously I've gone through couple of tracks and it's good. But, I haven't got the overall impression. Other forums are quite praising new disc from Devin but it'll be shite if Devin Townsend disappoints me.

First impression:

Sky Blue - Yet another album in Addicted/Epicloud style. Epicloud was slightly weaker than Addicted, Sky Blue is slightly weaker than Epicloud, so I think enough is enough... Devin needs some fresh inspirations. Still, its not a bad album, definitely better than Casualties Of Cool. Production is cool, drums sounds better than on Epicloud.
Highlights so far: Rejoice, Universal Flame, Silent Militia, Rain City
7.5-8/10

Dark Matters - While better than Sky Blue, it is not aggressive enough. However it is also not a 'Ziltoid the Omniscient' or 'Deconstruction' copy. Devin was right that this album is like a 'musical', not really a riff-based album. It is definitely more atmospheric/epic than first Ziltoid. Generally a fine album, could be a bit faster (and why so many monologues this time lol). Production as good as on Sky Blue.
Highlights so far: Ziltoidian Empire, War Princess, March Of The Poozers, Through The Wormhole(ah that drama)
8.5/10

Thats a sad moment, indeed.

Gotta say I'm very disappointed. Only listened to the Dark Matters part so far, but it's what I expected most from. (since Sky Blue is probably just another Epiclouder, which was alright, but not exactly what I want more of)

So yeah, one of the main problems is that it seems like he's trying to do too much. I'm glad it's not a ZTO copy, but on the other hand it seems most of the spirit of that album is entirely gone here. ZTO was basically a parody/satire album, while Z² comes dangerously to what the first one was parodying.
