That opening track amirite?

That euphoric, spacey keyboard intersection about quarter way through track two = spine tingling.

Probably Darkspace's most "predictable" album yet. I think that's a good thing though. All the songs pretty much go exactly where you want and expect them to. Chords progress in typically Darkspace-ian fashion which means they're massively melodic and euphoric on top of that ambient background so you get a great interplay of harsh and melodic throughout (though this is by far their most digestible album because of how much focus there is on those melodies). In the same way those great chugging sections break up the structure nicely, as do the harsher, driving black metal blasting passages. Very much gives me a similar feeling to Monolith's 'Interlude Second' EP at quite a few points here. Not a complicated album by any means but it's probably their most effective one yet and plays most heavily on Darkspace's strengths. Deep and cosmic stuff.

I think I slightly prefer III, but this is still excellent stuff. And I've listened to it just once, so who knows how it will affect me with time. 8,5/10 at the moment, so far the best black metal heard this year.

Yah, it's not topping III just yet, but holy crap it's putting up a good fight.

^Yup, after 2 listens I can agree with that. I might end up liking this one even more than III in the future, though I might not.

Oh yeah, that really hit the spot.

This album leaves its predecessor at the top but an excellent addition to their discography nonetheless. And the next one could be sooner than another six years, just sayin.

This is quite simply phenomenal. It's style is a tad less appealing to me than that of III (hence the 10 on that album), but this album completely blew my socks off.

Strongest track imo is Dark 4.19... going to give a few more listens though before rating!

I don't have much to say, it's good Darkspace. But I find myself less... "entranced" by it than I expected. I don't know, either I became an insensitive bitch or I just don't like ambient/black metal that much anymore.

I like it how the production seems cleaner here than on the previous releases.

For once I can say it is one thing I dislike, the cleanliness of the production.

I'm sorry, I don't know who those people are or what they do, but from the looks of their band profile on MS, it's most certainly something I dislike. I meant by that comment I usually don't like my stuff to be too raw, except for a few bands, who just sound better when there's a little extra haze/dirt. Darkspace being one of those few exceptions. I suppose Njikaka release inaudible albums?

They're still interesting sometimes nonetheless.

Diggin' this. For the Record III, seemingly the most popular, is the one I go back and listen to the least.

Second listen, at full blast on my brand new mega-speakers. Walls, desk and cat are shaking in terror. I can't hear anything but the world falling apart. Neighbours are going to call the police. Awesome.

This totally deserves the top spot of 2014.

One of the best releases in this bad year imo.

I really loved all parts. Their making great atmosphere. I liked the riffing style that they improved form previous releases. Electro elements stack very well too. My only concern is tha lack in variety on how they express the idea. It was listening to the same (superb) thing in the whole disc. They repeat to make atmosphere, this is ambient, I don't mean that ofc.

First listen still in process. All I can say is that the crunchy trademark riffs followed by cosmic keyboards on Dark 4.19 is among the best shit I heard this year !

For now this gets an 8 from me but I'm guessing it might very well end up a 9 after more listens.

If you haven't heard their previous one I'd say you should give it a try. A tad more interesting to me, and one of my favorite records of all time. This however, is still phenomenal and definitely a worthy follow up.

Listened to it just partially yesterday and as expected, it was a little underwhelming. I was actually shocked by the techno-like feeling of first track. Maybe I was listening to a wrong album right??

There would be no surprise, if you gave their latest EP a proper listen
