Something should be done about this, not because of stupid reasons as "my favorite band isn't 1st place omg". The rating system should reflect the real overall opinion of the users on the album (duh), and it should help other users decide whether they would want to give the album a shot or not (among other factors, of course).

Like JoHn DoE said, he/she is rather generous and probably mainly/only rates albums he/she likes a lot. If we deleted those votes, then we'd then have to delete half of our users' album votes too.

Not that much a torture that was for me though (well, maybe those 3 and lower were ).Giving negative ratings rather helps me a lot, at balancing out my rating distribution that is. Keeps me from inflating my ratings. Say, after having heard three albums I rated 5 there may come an album that I like much more than those three. I can then easily rate this 7 at max, and thereby reserve 8s and higher for the albums I really, really, really like. Does that make sense?
