Over the last decade or so, Kreator has embraced a much fuller, more melodic style that, paired with remarkably consistent material, has kept the band at the forefront of the thrash scene with such veteran grace and wisdom that it's almost impossible not to appreciate Kreator from a professional standpoint as well as a musical one.

If, during the last five years, you have been anticipating a return-to-brutal-thrash-roots Kreator album, stop reading now and don't even bother listening to Gods Of Violence. If, on the other hand, you have welcomed and enjoyed the new direction and approach that the band has taken since 2001, proceed with reading this review, my fellow metalhead. Don't be fooled by the high rating though, because this is not an encomium.

The year 2016 showed us that some old American thrash bands still have it in them. Kreator shows us that 2017 in Europe will not be worse. "Gods of Violence" is simply excellent.

It came in the mail a day early! German efficiency. I just had my first listen and it's really good imo. The songs are good and the production is fantastic. Typical Kreator really. Let's see how it is after a few spins

Sami has transformed Kreator from a great thrash band to one of the best metal bands in the world. Neck breaking riffs, razorblade solos, epic choruses, very enjoyable album overall. Melodic with quite a few heavy and power influences and top notch production without any fillers in my opinion. If you like the path they have taken since 2001, you will love this album.

As for now it's my first listening to full album I can only sat it good. But I have a feeling that it's more Iron Maiden than before... Less Trash more heavy. But still sounds great!

Since Violent Revolution Kreator is on fire, great albums following each other, so I had high hopes for this one either. It sure didn't disappoint at all. Aggressive, melodic, sometimes even bombastic, all the elements we could get used to since the VR period. Kreator delivered again! Maybe their best release of the "new" era.

Yes, but since 2001 albums are written in quite same form. Very catchy and melodeathic style.
It's not bad at all, but you know, it's not level of Extreme Aggression or Coma of souls.

Oh, and new outcome is spinning in my player everyday

Nice work!

Good album. But a step down compared to Phantom Antichrist. Nevertheless, it is a miracle that an 80s thrash band remains so consistent nowadays.

The Era of Big 4 is over...
...TESTAMENT, EXODUS, SODOM, OVERKILL have released since 2000 far more bether Albums.
But only one band has released albums in 21.century in such level of quality...
...MIGHTY KREATOOOR!!!

Production, Aggresion, Melody [in border of Thrash of course, if one can say that...] put together in one fantastic record from the beginning till the end.

Keep thrashing for ever and for always...:banger:

It's not that level and it will never be. Comparing albums that are 30 years apart is totally pointless.

I'm having the same issues with this. Huge overuse of melody throughout. A bunch sing along choruses with noodley melodic guitarwork in the background. I do think it is ok, just not my tastes. For some reason people in general love melodic crap, this should do well. I'm happy for them, even though I don't like it. This should rope in some non thrash fans and grow their fanbase. Losing a few brutal thrash/extreme metal fans shouldn't hurt them.

This has a few cool riffs and melodies, but it's very generic. My rating is pretty generous.
