Sorry to bring up Hercules in the shout box, but I noticed most of the albums with cd versions are asking for 50 euro ($80 something) each. Who's paying that much for an album?
Terrible news surfaced today for Nevermore and Sanctuary fans as singer Warrel Dane has reportedly passed away in Brazil, according to Brazilian news source UOL. He also had a solo career and was in fact working on a new solo album. He was only 56 years old. Warrel Dane possessed a unique voice, penned thought-provoking lyrics and his music will live on. Rest in peace...
According to UOL, Warrel was in São Paulo, Brazil creating his second solo album, Shadow Work. Solo band member Johnny Moraes tells UOL: "He died in the night, he had a heart attack. He was in the flat where he stayed for the recording of the album when it happened. I got to do cardiac massage, we called the SAMU (Brazilian ambulance) who arrived very fast, but when they arrived he was already dead."
Moraes continues: "His health was already very weak because of his diabetes and his problems with alcoholism. He was already facing a lot of health problems... The record was almost finished and we started to record the voice. The musicians are already thinking about how to use the material for a posthumous tribute. Maybe we can count on guests, but there's nothing official yet."

Sanctuary already reacted to the shocking news via Facebook: "Today I wake up to the news that Warrel Dane has died. I don't even know what to say. My friend, brother and musical companion for over 30 years has passed away. I'm in total shock right now. I'm sorry for any close family or friends that had to hear the news on Facebook."
"The memories will be there for you
To give you peace of mind
And when there's nothing more left to gain
And no risks left worth taking
The memories will be true to you...
In memory, in memory...
Memory is alive"
Fuck this...really fuck this. Nevermore was one of the first bands that made me jump from Slipknot to metal. Jeff Loomis is (was, given that ne is now murdered by Michael Amott) one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Nevertheless, Nevermore wouldnt be Nevermore without Warrel Dane's vocals. Dead Heart, Dreaming Neon Black and This Godless Endeavor are absolute masterpieces, music that will stand the test of time.
The thing that bothers me the most, is that I ve been listening to metal for more than 12 years, and in this time span, only once was Nevermore booked for a portuguese date. MONTHS BEFORE THE FEST, NEVERMORE BREAK UP. It was fucked, it was really fucked, that event and his death made it so I couldnt ever see Nevermore live, and although I won't ever be able to see Nirvana, The Beatles, or Pantera live, at least I was not alive or was very young to care, but Nevermore...fuck... it was just bad luck and bad country to live in as a metalhead.
Terrible, terrible news... Dude was one of my favourite singers ever and participated in some of my favourite albums ever (I'm looking at you, every Nevermore album between Politics and Godless Endeavour and first two Sanctuary albums). Dreaming Neon Black got me through some pretty tough times. I guess today is Nevermore day, then.
As they say, Warrel Dane is dead, long live Warrel Dane.

It's Nevermore's finest IMO, showcases the versatility of Dane's vocals but also songwriting. You're lucky to have met him
It's indeed awesome, but I have a slight preference for This Godless Endeavor
As for lucky, yeah I guess. It was at Hellfest 2010 for an interview that finally never saw the light of day. And he was indeed a really, really nice guy (and great frontman!)

I remember this. I also remember being very sad and pissed at this. Always bad timing...
The musicians from the solo project are already thinking about the tribute album?. Fuck them $$$$$
He died in the middle of recording the new album. It's very common for unreleased tracks to be finished up, often with a pile of guest musicians, for posthumous release in his memory.

Yup, but you dont start to promo it the same day the dude dies. Pathetic.

"We're going to finish what he was working on as a tribute."

Yeah, they're such corporate whores. :/
Considering Dane's declining health it may have crossed his (and others') mind he may not be able to finish the album and maybe he discussed dispositions with the other musicians in that case. Of course that's all speculations from my part, as much as saying that "they're doing the tribute for $$$".
And again, what would be the overall financial gain on that tribute album? I understand the guy was well known in metal circles but still that's a niche musical market and I doubt this will bring significant amounts of money to the surviving musicians.
