Quite a change in style (especially the vocals) but I love it already. Sick riffing like omfg

Lots of riffing and energy but I would have like some contrast to that, there is a lightness here that doesnt suit my taste, not sure if its the drum sound or the overly clear production or the bass or all.

Agree about the lightness. The album title does translate to 'Ecstasy' after all so I was expecting positive vibes. Didn't really care for this on my first listen (granted I was listening on shitty earbuds) but its definitely growing on me.

This is fucking insanely awesome. I expected nothing really, and, wow, best BM in ages.

Change the production and it's perfect.
Euphoric and triumphant riffing, which is quite a change from the supposed icelandic BM sound, yet extremely memorable. There are almost Iron Maiden vibes on that second track.

But really, that production nearly kills it. A dirty-remaster would be most welcome. I'd be interested in checking the initial recording that was supposed to be "ruined" by bad equipment. Probably more suitable.

Agree with you vombatus, though I think I need a few more listens.

I thought that interview on bardo was a little cri gy, probably should have stayed mysterious.

Kinda sounds mostly like bog standard viking metal to me I really dislike the vocals, he sounds like he needs a Fisherman's Friend.

You're welcome to go ahead, I'm not really bothered if people don't like vocals / bands of stuff I like BTW, a Fisherman's Friend is a cough mint, in case you thought it was something offensive. The vocals are just pretty bad to me is all.

Lolol, tbh I wasn't sure if people outside the UK even know what those cough sweets are. Probably sounds a bit weird if you didn't.

They already recorded the album in 2017 I think. According to Dagur the final result was not satisfying and they ended up re-recording the whole thing a year later.

Interesting. Weird that they felt a re-mix wouldn't have been sufficient, something must have gone seriously wrong in the recording process then.

I tried one and started crying and didn't try any more. Weirdly I think I can still remember how they taste and how strong they were

This Dutch one is the best. We had the same here too.

The vocals, while not bad, are definitely not the album's strongest point. I don't mind them at all though.

Woah, a little touchy, aren't we?

Well, I'll be damned, but I can't agree with people complaining with the production. For me it's perfect. You can hear everything without losing rawness, and to me its one of the major improvements over the last album. That, and the goddamn riffs, absolutely hooked to this!

Yet again another great album from these guys. Iceland are incredible when it comes to black metal!

Loving this album, probably my favorite black metal release so far this year. Best from Iceland since "Flesh Catherial" IMO, if not better!

Im photophobic and this has too much of brightness for me. kinda disappointed.

I did not enjoy their first release, found it average and I was numb to check this second one. When I actually did I was shocked by the quality of riffs. Everything was well-composed and I count this release as the best so far (although I am afraid that Mgla will sweep everything this year). Loved every single track, excellence, with moments I will not forget, like "Með Svipur Á Lofti" at 04:37 or "Allt Sem Eitt Sinn Blómstraði" at 04:15.

At first I was kind of disappointed since this is quite different from the debut which I loved. After a few more listens I realized that this is pretty good. Now I would say that this is at least as good as the debut.
