This new Five Finger Death Punch album is really nice.

Now seriously. It's pretty obvious they developed their sound, there is no doubt about that but I find this really underwhelming, which is what I expected beforehand. Everybody praised The Valley but it didn't really appeal to me.

I'm not against clean singing but even though Bozeman really improved that aspect I feel it doesn't fit Whitechapel. Looks like they're forced to use it rather than do it because they want to. "Bring me home" or "When a Demon Defiles a Witch" are really good songs and they have lots of clean singing, but I can't find any song as good as those in this album. 2-3 "ballads" would be nice, unfortunately like 7-8 songs are kind of ballads, the rest is ruined by those clean singing I speak about. After one listen I'd say "A Bloodsoaked Symphony" is the standout of the album.

They peaked 2008-2012, this is just another thing.

I've got very little experience with Whitechapel prior to the last two albums (I mainly remember the video for This Is Exile with the headbanging in formation), but I was surprised how melodeath-y the opening track was. It's a passably good record, doesn't feel super generic in any particular style and has a pleasant amount of variety, although the sofest songs are a bit of a drag

Can't stand the last record, but this one actually enjoyed a lot. Although kinda agree with the MS review: it feels the band is trying to follow-up the vocalist, but they hardly do something of individual praise. Their Self-titled also sent that follow-up feel, but instrumentally I have a lot to praise that record for.

It's great album. Melodic, heavy, slow and fast. Good work Whitechapel

I think The Valley somewhat spoiled my Whitechapel expectations going forth but this is still a solid modern deathcore album, if only to serve as proof that all those side-bang skinny-jean high school scene metal bands can eventually create worthwhile music.

I love that they keep leaning harder into this more melodic and progressive sound. This record builds off of what they did on The Valley and pushes it further. Awesome record overall.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

I expected nothing, and actually quite enjoyed this record. It's far more intricate than any 5FDP album. Outside Trivium, probably my vote for biggest surprise in 2021.

No memorable songs in here. I think begining of anticure is the one which made me look up from whatever I was doing, but other than that very underwhelming song writting.

Top notch musicianship though.

Not nearly as good as the self-titled or The Valley, but still a decent listen.

No memorable songs in here.

I would recommend going back to it. At first listen I bounced off most the tracks but with each new one have found a lot to love about this album. Even if I don't think it gets to the level of The Valley, it's kinda great.

Shit, I thought I was the only one missing their previous sound! Self titled album WHITECHAPEL is still such a slap in your face that all these recent efforts sound pretty weak. I don't deny musical or singing qualities but this new sound does NOT appeal to me. Another band I won't keep following...
