What is it about metal bands, the solar system and extremely long albums?

It is very long, too long really, but I think it's a style that being extra long isn't so detrimental for, and it's good fun space stoner doom

Edit: Mars is a killer track, definitely my highlight on the album

Ya, it took me a whole day, listening intermittently, but it paired well with everything I did that day; laundry, darts, getting stoned.

Great concept and phenomenal execution... as long as one skips all of the interludes! The monotonous scientific fact dump is abominable - and I'm studying physics! I listen to metal to take a break from that stuff - I don't need it in my music!

Anyways, let's talk about the positives: I love the idea of the first track with the audio samples of Voyager's Golden Record, which is flying out of our solar system right now, carrying with it sounds of ocean waves, laughing hyenas, crying babies, construction noises, thundering train cars, and simple greetings in different languages.
The tracks named after the planets create incredible droning, oppressive atmospheres. The lyrics are fun little poems about each planet. It's great to see metal tackle any and all topics with such creativity and musical mastery.

But because of those annoying interludes my rating drops from a potentially perfect score to a 7.

I highly recommend this album, but remember to skip those interludes!
