This band from Brazil are another of my all time favourites.... This is for many reasons, one of them being the anti-society lyrics that they incorporate into their music... The new album is surprisigly very good, which makes a change from the last few albums beforehand, which IMO have been far below average...

What does everyone else think?

Latest album's not quite the way i expected it to be. Well, I expected it to be a return to their thrash death roots. But then I thought that it ain't gonna happen anytime soon, unless the brothers would reunite again. I couldn't be more disappointed. How I wish they would return to their classic death thrash metal style..

My favourite Sepultura album would be Beneath the Remains - a tale of chaos, war, anger and enlightenment - a total thrash extravaganza

Hell yeah!!! That's my favorite album too.. Greatest metal songs from the opening track Beneath The Remains up to Primitive Future.. Many says that the album sounds so monotonous and that the riffs all sound the same.. Who gives a shit anyway with what this album sound.. I love this album coz of its non-stop speed and aggressiveness.. Plus the vocal style of Max is great and awesome.. Kinda death thrash vocals in my opinion.. Heads up dude!

I like the older stuff with max, is he back? I agree that their lyrics are poingent ( did I spell that correctly) I grew up in a liberal democratic country, in which I still live , most south american countries are another ball of wax altogether. It is up to artists to reflect the society and denounce it if neccessary. Sepultura was mature beyond their years.

I like Sepultura too. Obviously, I prefer the Beneath the Remains/Arise Era, but also liked the last album.

Derrick is better vocalist than Max but maybe lacks some charisma (I dont know!)

Apart from Dante the other albums with Derrick also had good songs. I think Against is kinda underrated. It had really nice songs like Choke, Floaters in Mud, Reza, among others.

The other 2 albums also had a couple of good songs.

Sepultura is one of my favorite band! But the is no sepultura since 1996, Max and rest of the band is Sepultura..Since derrik started he change the sepultura stile ( genre ) which i dont like ! But if i have to say one good derrik album it has to be Dante XII. Thank god/satan for bringing back cavalera brothers back to the studio together! There new album rocks!

Their style had already changed for the worse with Max, starting with Chaos AD and then to the miserable Roots. I'd rather listen to any Derek-era Sepultura than Roots, and that's saying a lot because most of the shit they made with Derek fucking sucks. :/

Perhaps this has been said a lot but Sepultura was one of the best bands in the 80s. Morbid Visions is the most important proto-death metal album whereas Beneath the REmains is an awsome speed metal album. BUt since CHaos AD, they've been irrelevant for trhe underground fans.

I really like this band...

The first 4 albums are masterpieces of metal.
But the best one IMO is Schizophrenia...
I love the Thrash metal that it so damm "dirty" and raw... and with some death metal influences.

That's why I prefer the first 2 albums =p

I thought of aquiring their first releases, Bestial Devestation and Morbid Visions , which obviously were one of the first death metal releases. On the basis of MySpace samples, the albums won't beat Slayer's early works and Seven Churches, but still I consider them worth the purchase. . . . . What do you guys think of the albums ?

They're both most certainly interesting and have a brutal sound, they're still inexperienced in them, but definetly good if you like Sepultura's old stuff. Also Roadrunner has published in one album, with two bonus songs, so you will save some money there. The album features also a story of Sepultura's early days.

Morbid Visions and Beneath The Remains.... Enough said. Two Metal masterpieces. In my opinion Sepultura are the greatest band of all time, well at least from 1984 - 1993. They give me a feeling like no other when I listen to they're finest era. I have the Tribal S tattooed on my arm....

Sepultura kicks ass. My favorite song in Inner Self. Especially the live version off of Chaos A.D. where Max goes 'It' time to fuck shit up!!!!' At that part I just imagine people going insane.
