Intense. Yes that's it, brutal and hyper fast death metal with a lot (a lot!) of double blast and downright aggression. Not really grind, but quite close at times; it's more on the Cryptopsy/Brodequin line of thinking. The songs are short, about 2:30 each, Pissing Pus being the longest at... 4:59. And no, if anyone wondered, it's not a doom track.
Halfway through the album, the slower, heavier and darker instrumental called Requiem offers the listener a welcome (but short) time to breathe before the onslaught starts again.
The album is short, nothing more than 36 minutes including bonus tracks. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, considering the violence of the assault! It's also noteworthy that two of the songs, Infesdead and Born Of The Nephilim, were featured on their first demo.
Yeah, so they're aggressive. Do they know how to play their stuff? Hell yeah! The drums are amazing, with all these rhythm changes, blastbeats and all, but the drummer is not the only good musician: the riffs are great, and they must be something pretty insane to play. Oh, and the diverse vocalists add A LOT of dynamics to the songs, with grunts, cookie monster screams or thrashy vocals.
The production is really good too. Clean but not overwhelmingly so (not like on Cryptopsy's Once was not), it really adds some extra punch to the album, while not overdoing it.
And now, for something completely different, there's the last bonus track, called Cock Rockin' Fever. It is a surprising hard rock tune (quite catchy), but as such it sounds a bit out of place. Depending on your tastes, it'll either be a nice moment of relief or an unnecessary addition...
So, if you consider yourself a fan of brutal death metal, or brutal music in general, I think this album is a must-listen. Violent, powerful, technical and catchy, that what's needed, right?
