Biohazard - another example of age setting in. Reborn In Defiance isn't a bad album by any means, in fact, it's pretty heavy-hitting hardcore. It's just the sound of a band that's failed to adapt and has fallen in with the pack.

Fallen in with the pack? Well, yeah. This isn't a geezer-bashing fest or anything, but as metal and extreme forms of rock are now getting much older all across the board, this problem is becoming more and more rampant. Bands set out, sound fresh at the beginning, then more bands come out emulating them, and they fail to sound as fresh as they once did. Not just out of relativity, but in general they begin to stagnate. They become the giants upon whose shoulders are stood upon, but they don't grow from there. This is throbbing hardcore that slams like a slammer. Oh yeah, totally slams it. That's the end of the story, kids. The first few tracks are nothing aside from crushing, killer riffs but sitting through Reborn In Defiance in it's entirety whilst keeping your attention on it is rather difficult. It's not select tracks either; pick 4 songs at random from the album, and they'll all sound great the first few plays through, but extended plays are just tiresome.

See, hardcore, generally speaking, is such a simplistic form of music that it can be easily be combined, or morphed into cool new things. Interesting things are being done with the music, and Biohazard just hasn't caught up. The lack of innovation doesn't make this a bad album, it just keeps it from being a great one.

Rebord In Defiance is a small dose album. It's not any kind of triumphant return to glory for Biohazard, it's just a mildly amusing hardcore album.

Might have to listen just for giggles... i really liked Urban Discipline back in the day, but after State of the World Address came out, found myself caring less.

haven't bothered with anything since.
