Öhhhm, huh? Where Am I?
Oh, here I am, in my room in the year 2003, for a second there I believed that I was in the eighties, again.
No, I'm not going insane and I haven't struck my head, I have just listened to "Supreme Majesty's" new album "Danger" and believe it or not, this sounds like the eighties Hard Rock scene.
It's almost scary to listen to this 'cause sometimes it's not that obvious that this really is the year 2003, somehow "Supreme Majesty" drag you back to the time when "Europe" and the guys ruled the world.
Don't get me wrong now, this isn't bad, not at all, this is really, really good stuff.

This is "Supreme Majesty's" third release, second album. After an E.P back in 1999 ("Divine Enigma") and an album in 2001 (Tales of a Tragic Kingdom) have their second album now reached the stores.
I must say that I never heard of these guys before, even if they are from Sweden to, as I am.
But after my "encounter" with "Danger" I'm going to check the other releases as well.
"Supreme Majesty" is one of all Swedish Death Metal bands that have converted into something else, this time, Hardrock/Metal a'la eighties.
But a big different between "Supreme Majesty" and the eighties is the drummer, and the sound of the drums. Here you can here that they arise from "Death Metal", a bit special drum sound, that didn't existed in this kind of music back then.

"Danger" contains nine songs of which two is ballads ("Until the End of Time" & "By Your Side") with two wonderful ladies that doing the back vocals and one an almost perfect "Power" song ("Heroes of Our Lands") and some that could have been done by "Europe", ("Danger"& "After Midnight"). But some songs are really something special with "Supreme Majesty", their own sound, somewhere beside "Europe", songs like "Fallen Star", "Save Me" & "Two Against Many".

It's a prefect mix of songs, even if it is just nine songs does the albums sound compact and well done, production is perfect, just a bit experience is all that's needed.
"Supreme Majesty" should get a lot of new fans after this release, and hopefully someone will discover them through this review, even if I can't describe them fair enough. This should your hear with you own ears not read about.
But I can assure you; this album grows for each listening.

So all fans of the eighties way of doing Hardrock/Metal check these guys up, you won't be disappointed. And all fans of "Europe" should really like this even if "Europe" now is back in business again.

Killing Songs: All, but "Heroes of Our Lands", "Two Against Many" & "Danger" is a bit special. But All is really great.
