Have you ever heard that expression "it depends on the mood"? Well if you do you'll understand easily this Review because Loot is all about listening it with the correct mood, if you don't?uhm, you'll understand it anyway so, let's begin.

Loot is quite an experimental band in its own genre, Stoner Metal most times has this "What the fuck was that element" I talk about in some of my reviews, but Loot grabs that element and adds bizarreness to the overall music and then throws it right in your face with pins and blades to make your face bleed like hell, that's what happens when you listen to Loot while you are in an angry mood, but when you are in a normal/happy state the whole experience change, that's the beauty of this album you see?

Despite the fact that the Stoner music never fades, there's this alternative/muddy feeling towards it as well; the riffing is spectacular, really catchy I might add and it even has a small groove here and there; the drumming is just loveable, every pattern is totally different that the previous one, the structures added to the music with the drums are just overwhelming; the vocals are well executed, this guy manages to vary his voice over and over again, there are few moments where he even sounds like a "Country" singer, kind of like Garth Brooks doing Stoner and there's a song where he sounds really "Grunge", you get the idea right?. The bass-lines are just good, nothing impressive though and that was a little turn-off, the guy plays amazingly, but the bass arrangements are poor if you ask me.

This album is really easy on the ear; I mean if you are open-minded then you'll see this is a great release, even the concept is kind of histrionic (they took the title "Big Fish" from a Tim Burton film) and you should see the booklet, it's really magnificent, few pages though and that was another turn-off. I'll rate it with 8.3 because there are a couple of songs you could easily "expunge" or erase from the track-list, for example that sixth track, a song that makes fun of boy bands (check the title) they focused more on the joke than on the music so in the end this tune becomes tedious, boring and even the chorus begins to annoy your head. Also "To Share Is To Care", that song sounds a little rapper and that kind of sucked.

In general this album is really amazing; try to be open-minded because this album is worthy, just remember the genre you're getting yourself into, Stoner is always a kick in the ear as many of you already know, and this release proves that fact marvelously.

Best Tracks: "Koekstruyf/Without the Chains" "Emptyheaded", "Head First"
