Also Evilfeast
Now that is a good suggestion. Never heard of Evilfeast before and it looks like all the albums are worthy of being on this list, or is there a specific album you have in mind?
Edit: I added the debut since that one is rated highest on MS. I listened to the whole album and it's definitely my kind of music. Great stuff.

Check out Liberteer.
I checked it out but it's way too chaotic for me. Can't enjoy it at all so I won't add it, sorry. If you have more suggestions, let me know.

attention grabber
FYI. When you quote more than one person in a post, only the first person actually gets a Notification. If you want everybody you quote to get a Notification, then you have to individually quote everybody in separate posts.

Ah, so that explains it then I guess. Well, obviously I want someone to see what I typed when I quoted that person. I don't want to have a ridiculous amount of posts on my lists, so that's why I always quote multiple people in the same message. Quite annoying only the first person gets a notification.

Yes, it was. Glad DarkSymphony pointed this out to me because I didn't know either before. The whole album is done by Morten Veland (who else? ), but he did hire a session musician who did the female vocals. Glad it's on this list, since it's the only gothic metal album among lots of doom and especially black metal albums.

When there is just 1 (or 2) session/guest musician(s) involved, I'd still add them. I might change my mind on this matter, but for now I'll leave it as it is.
Fair enough, It was such big surprise to see Sirenia here

Yeah, I can imagine that, since it's totally different from most of the albums on this list. Oh, and thanks for the thumbs up.

If she was only a guest vocalist then I would still consider it a one-man album because he could've done everything all by himself, but he chose to hire a female vocalist to help accentuate the album a bit; he did not NEED her assistance with writing and recording the album.

Depending on your taste for Industrial Rock/Metal, you might also check out Celldweller's debut.

Yep, exactly what I think as well.

Same here. Hell, I've been so unfamiliar with industrial metal I didn't even know what it was a year ago or so. So far my favourite Industrial (black) metal album is The Work Which Transforms God, a really popular album here, especially with elites and staff. If you haven't checked it out, then do so quickly, it's awesome!

Psykometal beat you to it, haha. I think overall it was good (if not great), but sometimes I felt like "what the hell am I listening to?". A massive album like that can't be judged after just 1 spin it seems, or at least not in my case.

I was just about to suggest Funerals From The Astral Sphere but I see you've already got it. I'd say this list is pretty definitive, I've been thinking of bands to add to it for you but you've pretty much already got all that I can think of. Good job man!

Haha, Midnight Odyssey was actually one of the bands (along with Aquilus of course, but also Ancient Wisdom, Forest of Shadows and a couple of others) that got me to the idea of making this list. I'm pretty happy with the list of how it is now, but that doesn't mean I'll stop adding albums. Unlike my debut albums list however, there are (luckily for me) far less potential albums. Despite the fact that the debut albums list is 300 albums long, there are still a shitload of suggestion from people that commented that I need to check out. Ah well, I'm not in a hurry, but I just need +1 more and it'll be on the first page of the MS lists (not that I only care about thumbs ups, but it's still nice to get recognition for the "work" you did).

Someone mentioned Aquilus in the shoutbox. Gave them a whirl. Absolutely beautiful. It'll be very hard for anything on this list to beat it. And it appears its your favourite too since its the artwork that you've used for the list.
(Completely irrelevant to this list, and despite them being very different bands, do i enjoy this more than Locus Horrendus? I'm not sure. It's tough :p .)
I might've mentioned Aquilus in the shoutbox, although not recently. I used to spam it quite often there, so some users even got annoyed with me doing that. Anyway, you're right, it's easily my favourite album on this list and one of the albums (if not the most important one) that gave me the idea of creating this list. In my opinion it's a masterpiece, but I would still choose Locus Horrendus over this one. The reason being that the last song on Griseus is simply too long and brings the album down for me, but also because Locus Horrendus impresses me more overall.
Anyway, hope the list is of any use to you (and others) despite the fact that Griseus is totally different from most albums on this list (since most of them are black metal).

I also recommend you listen to Gallobraid's Ashen Eidolon... Incredible debut album by Jake Roger's one man band. Actually it's an EP haha
Very similar to Agalloch.

Of course I listened to it, or else it wouldn't be here. However, some albums here I only checked a couple of songs from to decide whether they are worthy of the list or not, but I fully listened to most of them.
I really liked it, but as most MS users know about me, I can't really properly judge an album after just 1 spin in most cases. In any case, good you pointed that one out to me. If you have any more suggestions, then let me know and I'll check 'em out.

Actually I had that EP on here from the beginning until just a few days ago. I decided to remove it because I only want full length albums (that are featured on MS) on this list. Gallowbraid indeed is really great and I agree it's similar to Agalloch. I've been following that guy on Facebook and it seems he's releasing his first full length album early 2014, so when that album gets released, I probably would immediately add it to this list (because I don't expect it to be anywhere near bad).

Let me know when the debut is released, and I'll add it to the database as long as it's metal.

I'll be sure to let you know. And I'm pretty sure it's going to be a metal album, seeing as the EP is also metal. Gallowbraid is similar to Agalloch like Caladan Brood is similar to Summoning. At least, that's a fairly good comparison I'd say. Oh, and I added Lascaille's Shroud to another list of mine (not that hard to guess which one I'm talking about I think ), or is Leaving Earth Behind the debut? MA says it's an EP.

I'm pretty sure it's an LP, 45+ mins strikes me as being a bit too long for an EP. I believe in England an album can't be labelled as an EP if it exceeds like 25 mins; and that feels right to me. I've not seen anywhere that indicates specifically it's an EP, outside of MA. Bandcamp allows band's to indicate between album, EP and single, and he has it listed as an album. Granted it may be a goof on his part, but until he indicates somewhere that it's an EP I'm gonna run with album since it's 45 mins long, and I agree with the British on this particular subject.
Okay, thanks for clearing that up. And I don't really agree with that to be honest (hehe, so we don't always agree after all ). I mean, Gallowbraid's EP is 31+ minutes, so I would be a hypocrite if I'd agree with that. And the longer the album, the better. Though that is true to an extent of course (for example, the debut of Midnight Odyssey is simply too long, despite it being a great album). Oh, and I already deleted it from my debut albums list of course (which I was referring to).

Thanks! And well, unlike my most popular list (which will never be finished) this one is pretty much done as it is now. I added genres for each album so you at least have an indication of which albums you should like. I'm not that surprised to hear you don't know most of them, since I also didn't know most of these when I just created the list. So yeah, it's a lot of obscure stuff and I don't mind since on my other lists there's lots of better-known stuff to be found.
