This is from the 2013 album that I haven't listened to yet. I loved the one before that. I should really rectify that mistake and listen to them both, and make it really urgent because this first track is great. Much obliged.

I can imagine finding something interesting from this.
Also, kudos for having many non-MS albums.

Well, knowing a little about what you like, I suggest you stick to the ones labelled black. I don't think you're fond of very aggressive and brutal stuff, right? But if you aren't afraid, go for the rest!
Thanks, it just happens that most aren't on MS, I didn't go out of my way to include bands that aren't in the database. I'd actually think some people here would gain from seeing a couple of them added.

Well, to be honest with you, no. For my taste, this is too screamo and the sudden changes from slow/cute to aggressive feel really forced. I'm sorry, I don't even see myself going past the first three songs I listened to.
But you were not too far off.

For some reason, I find hardcore more..."hardcore" than any other metal genre. Rather than a positive reaction, it's usually me clenching my jaw and wincing in discomfort. So yeah, no hardcore for me

I couldn't agree more. It achieves levels of aggressiveness - and whatever emotion you want to put on it - far above what I can hear in brutal death, tech death, and other extreme metal styles. But what I never saw before this year, is that there is true innovation in that genre. And it mixes very well with those I am already a huge fan of.
Before, I thought hardcore was Hatebreed, full stop.

I haven't heard of any of these. I'll have to check them out and give you my thoughts on them, seeing as we have a few tastes in common already.

I noticed you listen to quite a bit of everything. I would have advised you to go for Plebeian Grandstand first, since it's the closest thing to Hexis, that you know already. But you are likely to appreciate the top three, I'm sure.

Guantanamo's sophomore effort was released in 2013

Knut are pretty tasty. They're often regarded primarily as a sludge band but I'm not sure I agree. Pretty decent mathcore vibe with them that I think might suit this list.

I also highly rec you Fall Of Efrafa. Some great sludgy-crusty-post-hardcore. Totally your kind of shit.

About Fall Of Efrafa, it is indeed a band that could have a spot here, but yeah, their latest (the one I am the most familiar with) was released in 2009. The link you gave me was from the debut if I remember well. I had to set a limit or the list would become too long, nice try though!

I had never heard of them. That is indeed something I could get into. I just saw their latest was released in 2010 which makes it a little "old" for the list, but I am definitely interested. Could you name an album I should listen to first?

Challenger is the only one I'm intimately familiar with really. The most recent one lacked quite a lot of the crunchy intensity of what other stuff of theirs I've heard.

How about Calvaiire? Converge-ish stuff made in France. You probably already know about their existence...

Oh sorry! Not a noob question, it just means you don't listen to the band. Deathspell Omega. Doctor Livingstone develops an atmosphere and dissonant parts similar to DsO, but with added hardcore and maybe a little progressive elements.

I just checked your profile and it seems you're not too familiar with black metal, are you? But if you are willing to try out Deathspeall Omega, I can only direct you to this album, Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice. But if you just need a song to get an idea, here, listen to this.

Not a huge black metal fan, no. It tends to be the vocals that put me off, especially if they are overbearing. I keep trying to get into it, though. It's mainly things like Aquilus, Emperor, Windir and things like that I've listened to. But I'll check them out.

Edit: There is just something about the sonic aesthetics of black metal that I find fascinating. It's just... a lot of the time I find it irritating.
