02:44 - quieted_darkness @joebiden The artwork on the Coffin Mulch album is sick. I was able to guess correctly on whom the artist was. [link]
00:04 - Scintil why I knew what album were you talking about before I even checked it
23:54 - quieted_darkness 4 albums released today are in the top 20. Quite the percentage. Fingers crossed that the 10th album gets exiled out of there.
23:11 - Chidder New Einherjer is great. Worth the wait.
01. Monsters Lurk Herein 02. Among The Exalted 03. The Sea As My Grave 04. We Are The Dead 05. The Light Of You 06. The Grand Reclamation 07. Cursed Are The Many 08. Chasmic Sorrows
Sure we have a new My Dying Bride album out today, but we also have two former My Dying Bride members delivering some DÖÖM. Cold, slow and epic as it should be.
Thanks to Radu for adding the profile and to LoG for sharing the video!
I just listened to the complete thing and I'm genuinely surprised. This is really really good.
Brings back some memories of Paradise Lost's Shades Of God & Icon and late Solstice.
That's Hamish from ex-Solstice/ex-MdB/ex-Vallenfyre on vocals? Shame on me that I have totally forgotten about this guy's brilliant voice. Great to have a doom vocalist on board who does not desperately try to sound like Wino or Ozzy.
There isn't much to say here that hasn't already been said, but it deserves repeating just how great of a nostalgic doom release this really is. You'd be remiss to think this was yet another underground album out of the '90s, but only because it captures so much of that magic without coming across as something trying to harness that sound. You can tell they went into this with fresh ideas and an emotional attachment to the project as the songs are dripping with creativity and zest. Fans of Sabbath-inspired doom will love this. Fans of doom in general will at least find a modernized and capable rendition of the genre's earliest classics to absorb into their bloodstream.
Top notch stuff.
