Soundgarden have been working on a new album. During a recent appearance on "Whiplash", the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie, Soundgarden's frontman Chris Cornell confirmed that the band hopes to enter the studio early next year to record their long-awaited new album, which will be their first since 2012's King Animal, with the goal of releasing it later in the year.
Montreal concert promoter Evenko has announced that the Canadian metal festival Heavy Montréal will go on hiatus next summer, but will return on July 28th and 29th, 2018 at Parc Jean-Drapeau. Nick Farkas, vice-president of concerts and events at Evenko, said that Heavy Montréal was being cancelled in 2017 due to a number of factors, including the renovations that will be going on at Parc Jean-Drapeau and the fact that the summer of 2017 will have a busy schedule for other hard rock and metal shows in Montreal.
Innovative Italian label Frontiers Music Srl recently presented the birth of their new melodic rock band, One Desire, which features the former Sturm Und Drang man André Linman and Jonas Kuhlberg of Cain's Offering, along with Jimmy Westerlund and Ossi Sivula. The Frontiers Music Srl manager even noted that their upcoming album is a "strong contender for album of the year". No further information about their upcoming album is known to date.
Queensrÿche have released a music video for their song "Hellfire", which spotlights the Malaysian passenger flight crisis in 2014. The song "Hellfire" appears on the progressive metallers most recent album, Condition Hüman, which was released last year. Enjoy!
UK extreme metallers Anaal Nathrakh have a new video out. After releasing their latest album The Whole Of The Law earlier this year, the band chose the song "We Will Fucking Kill You" for their new video clip. You can watch it on the YouTube player below. The Widow Brothers directed and edited the video, which is an interpretation of the themes of the song and the album's artwork.

Alice Cooper began recording demos for his new album earlier this week (December 5th) with producer Bob Ezrin. It will be his first studio album since 2011's Welcome 2 My Nightmare, and may or may not feature contributions from the surviving original members of the Alice Cooper band: bassist Dennis Dunaway, guitarist Michael Bruce and drummer Neal Smith.
Kemi-based vocalist Tony Kakko, mostly known as the mastermind and vocalist of Sonata Arctica, is set to perform two solo concerts in Oulu titled Sonata Sinfonica, with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, lead by the conductor Jukka Myllys. These two exclusive shows are surely to refresh the Sonata Arctica classics with symphonic arrangements. The shows will be held at the Oulun Musiikkikeskus, on April 29th-30th 2017.
Bad news from the Swallow The Sun camp. Their longtime and original keyboardist, Aleksi Munter, decided to depart after one last show on their North America tour. The information was given by Aleksi himself, on the band's official Facebook page. The statement can be read below. The band informed that they will continue with their live shows.
Bay Area thrash icons Testament will celebrate the release of their new album, Brotherhood Of The Snake, with a tour of North America. The tour will kick off on April 6th in Albuquerque and will wrap up on May 20th in Las Vegas, and will come with support from Sepultura and Prong.
Metal Church have released a music video for their song "Needle And Suture". It was directed by Jamie Brown of Smokin' Gun Video Productions. "Needle And Suture" appears on Metal Church's latest album, XI, which was released last March and saw the return of vocalist Mike Howe.
"Deathwomb" and "NekroRegime" are two new songs from Swedish black/death metallers Omnizide, which can be streamed here as of now. The tracks are taken from the band's second studio album, NekroRegime, set to be released this December 16th via Carnal Records in Europe and Daemon Worship Productions in the USA.
The nominations for the 59th annual Grammy Awards were announced today. For the Best Metal Performance category, the nominees are Baroness, Gojira, Korn, Megadeth and Periphery.
