Anneke Van Giersbergen has a new band! The Dutch singer has just announced Vuur, which is about to record its debut album. The band also features members from The Gentle Storm project, including drummer Ed Warby, bassist Johan Van Stratum, guitarist Ferry Duijsens, and singer Marcela Bovio. Guitarist Jord Otto is also in the band. These past few months, they have been busy writing and rehearsing songs for their debut album that will be recorded early next year and released in the fall of 2017 via InsideOut Music. Be prepared for something heavy, melodic and progressive.

Ghost will be haunting European stages again next year with a new tour in support of their Popestar EP released this year. The Swedes released the EP as a bridge between their third album Meliora launched in 2015 and their upcoming fourth full-length work, expected in 2017.

Swedish atmospheric black metallers Wormwood have inked a deal with the Dutch label Non Serviam Records. Their debut album entitled Ghostlands - Wounds From A Bleeding Earth will be released early next year as a physical release and through all digital platforms. The album has been recorded and mastered by Sverker Widgren at Wing Studios, a renowned veteran of sound engineering on the Scandinavian extreme metal scene.

In other news, Season of Mist also announced the re-signing of Sólstafir and today marks the start of the third week of the band recording their new album. They are working with renowned producers Birgir Birgirsson (Sigur Rós, Alcest) and Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Cathedral, Paradise Lost, Oranssi Pazuzu).

It's been 9 long years but now Deinonychus is back. Its reactivated Dutch protagonist, Marco Kehren, has set Ode To Acts Of Murder, Dystopia And Suicide as the title of the long-awaited new album. Marco entered Spacelab Studio in Grefrath, Germany with Christian Moos a few weeks ago to begin recordings for their 8th album, the band's first release since Warfare Machines released in 2007.
Dirty Shirt's brand of crossover folk metal will get a special treatment next year. The band is planning a tour with a complete traditional Romanian orchestra (named The National Folkloric Ensemble Transylvania) for next year. To counter the costs of such a grandiose project, the band has decided to crowdfund this project and stated that should they not achieve their goal, the tour stands, although with a smaller orchestra. It has been a while since one man black metal act Appalachian Winter shared some news, but the mastermind Daniel George Klyne has been working on new music. In fact, he is working on two new albums but only one is metal. You can listen to a few new songs on their Bandcamp page.
In Flames are losing another long-time member. After drummer Daniel Svensson left last year, to be replaced by Joe Rickard, now is bassist Peter Iwers who departs to "pursue other endeavours". He's been in the band since 1997 and will leave after the band's U.S. tour dates with Hellyeah which will last until December.
Negură Bunget have released a new video from their latest opus, Zi. The video is for the track "Marea Cea Mare" made in collaboration with Thy Veils, a Romanian ambient band, also from Timisoara.
