Melodic death metal is an exhausted genre which had very limited means of expression in the first place. But since it sold so well to adolescent metal fans with low expectations, it flourished on the barren soil of its narrow repertoire. Once in a while a promising band emerges, shines for a while and vanishes into the sea of mediocrity also called mainstream musical business, never to be heard again.

22.06.2011 A surprisingly mature, deliciously adept and well-sounding debut album. Remember Barren Earth? Enthrope don't stand too far apart, yet they manage to be unique enough. Powerful and crisp production compliments this sleeper hit.

Rating: 6 Nothing that wasn't done better a thousand times before. Ok album, but nothing special after three spins. But to be fair, I really never manage to get into mid-tempo melodic death.

Agree with you completely. This album bored me to tears. But they have talent for sure. If they come up with something better on their sophomore effort, maybe then I will consider them in a more serious vein.

110% agreed.

My God, can it get any more boring?

I also felt it was absolutely boring despite the amount of talent they have.

Wow...this one was a mindblower. As far as the music goes, 10/10. But the vocals are somewhat hard to stomach. I was so unbelievably stoked to hear the singer left the band. Being as how vocals are the least important aspect of band's music, this one still deserves a 9.0+/10. Definitely a must for any fan of metal music. I just hope whoever takes over vocals will either sing clean mostly or not sound like he's just trying his dick off to overpower guitar/bass/synth/druns with every syllable. Still fucking love it!
