It's very rare that I love an album from the first time I listen to it but Salam is a bright exception. I would dare to say it's even better overall than Hilal, brilliant listen if you're fan of the oriental/folk metal genre.

A very good album for those looking for a metal band with a Middle-Eastern/Arabian sound (using the word "Oriental" is not accurate here). This is definitely a step up from their previous album (Hilal) and If you're a fan of Orphaned Land you would like this.

as in musically speaking. It's 17 minutes long, but most of it is silence o.o

Oh man I fucking HATE when bands do that. You just have to keep pressiong >> out of curiosity to finally listen to some sucky ambient piece or just something that wasn't worth the time anyway.
If I ever end up having a real band I swear I will slap in the face the first fucker who dares to come up with such an idea. I can accept one minute of silence but anything more than that will get a paddlin'.

Anathema and Mastodon have both had lengthy silent songs.

One minute is still okay, but I swear the track I mentioned above... its first 15 minutes was silence ._. I felt so cheated because I could have been listening to something else instead...

What a beautiful album! I'm on the first listen and am enjoying this immensely.
Re: the 17 minute track that's mostly silence. Thank god. I looked at the tracks and thought that this album might get a little long after that much music. It is very outdated to do silence stuff like that these days when most people are listening on their iPod or iTunes and can just see a track length. Back in the days of CDs it was a "hidden" track, nowadays you know exactly how long the track is and just click where the music starts. Pointless.

Very impressed with this band, though I prefer Hilal more, but why the long silence on the end track? That kinda ruined it for me a bit. Also alot of songs sound the same to me. Love the folk/oriental elements though.
