At first I was all like "Meh."
Then I was like "Hmm..."
Now I'm all "Whoa."

Not sure why it took me a few months to revisit this. I'm glad I did though, Book Of Black Earth create massive, rowdy sounding death metal with nothing but their guitars. No need to drag any keyboard player away from his Gossip Girl marathon.

Killer album. Flawless mix of black, thrash, death, and old school Gothenburg melodeath.

Man, it's great to see these guys on metalstorm!

I'm lovin' this album, brings me back to when I saw them live with Sonata Arctica in 2008. That was back right before they got signed with Prosthetic records, and released their second album.

It's really great to see that they came this far, and really improved their music since their debut 'the feast'.

Woah, where the hell did this come from? Just bought it, but I can see this is right up my alley... I love genre mash-ups like this, sick black metal riffs in a melodic death metal framework, and the vocals remind me of some grimy old-school DC hardcore or something. I am definitely gonna enjoy this!

Now I am very sure: Jon Nödtveidt resurrected. From hell.

But he did not return to preach and help. He stole Satan's Harley, joined Seattle's toughest biker gang, killed their leader to take over - and forced the remaining members to form a blackened death metal band. Secretly working in the background only as their manager and songwriter, but he is the Svengali.
Spinning this CD, we hear what Jon Nödtveidt wants us to hear. And it's the best mix of rowdy scandinavian death metal and melodic black metal I've come across in a very long period.
I heard the chorus of Antarctica, instantly fell in love with this and ordered the CD before I even knew that the best was yet to come.

I. SEE. DEMONS.
