After a fresh in sound and very good and inspired debut album, "Too Fast For Love" (1981-1982), Motley Crue returned during 1983 with one of their most renowned albums, their first and at the same time grand breakthrough in the world of rock music, "Shout At The Devil". The media etc started accusing them for the title of the album, their pentagram-incorporating clothes and the pentagram lying on the cover of the album back then. Another proof of how laughable and mindless humans can be, dealing not with their real problems but being insulted by the... pentagram of a band like Motley Crue whose connection with the Devil was, apparently, just for the show-off and the bad-ass of the case. No-one could stop them and Motley Crue continued their course gaining more and more success with their hot metal!

To my knowledge, 80's glam was also labeled as sleaze rock/metal.

Yes it was labeled as such back then as well.

In terms of time and location, yes. Sound, I'm betting no. To my knowledge, 80's glam was also labeled as sleaze rock/metal.
Then again I haven't listened to VoJ or Chrashdiet yet. I'll get back to you on this.
Don't go away, now.

shouldnt you have learned about what your talking about BEFORE you started arguing about it?

Seems like I hit a sore spot. Don't get your panties up in a bunch. Just saying your categorization is pointless considering it all falls under the Glam label.

yes i realize its all glam. im simply explaining how i seperate the good glam from the bad(my subjective view of good and bad at least) im not trying to say glam/sleeze/hair are all objectively different genres but I personally like to categorize them as different, dont see why this bothers you so much.

You didn't say anything about subjective views, just that the bands you listed are different because they "have a raw vibe or attitude." . They're not because whether it sounds raw or edgy or whatnot doesn't matter. You can organize them however you want. But it doesn't make you right or anything of the sort. It just makes you look obsessive compulsive. But yeah ill delete my posts. Arguing with you is pointless considering how stubborn you are.

Oh and Marcel, noone asked for your opinion. Unless it was sarcasm, to which case I welcome it.

since when isn't there metal in nu metal? Limp Bizkit not so much but KLorn and Slipknot certainly are metal.

I don't care what anybody says 'Shout at the Devil" is a true metal album . The production hit the nail on the head. Capturing the dark and ominous atmosphere perfectly. This is NOT glam garbage as others want you to believe. That came on the next album "Theatre of Painful to listen to". I saw this tour when they were opening for Ozzy. It was heavy and sleazy as shit. This is coming from somebody who hates the mass produced garbage called Hair Metal and grew up on old school punk and hardcore of that era. I have to give credit where it is due. I love music not just one style. Some people seem frightened to step out of the small box they have put themselves in.

Yes, they are and miles better than the overrated Motley Crue. There, I said it.

I've always had a soft spot for the second Enuff Z'Nuff album as well. Despite what Marcel said, not all of the glam/sleaze/hair metal scene was crap.

I also enjoy the first albums from Faster Pussycat and Love/Hate from time to time as well. As for Motley Crue, SATD is easily their best for me but the next three records still have some fun tracks amongst them.

What I would say though, is Hanoi Rocks pissed over all of them. I'd take Two Steps From The Move over any of the aforementioned bands.

To each their own I guess. I rarely listen to glam rock/glam metal/hair metal anymore but still listen to a few bands/albums. These days, SATD is the only MC album I can listen to without cringing.
