After Swedish power metal act Hammerfall's less than impressive 2000 release Renegade , the band have rethought their game plan of attack and come up with their fourth release Crimson Thunder. While the formula has hardly changed, there is a slight change of pace within Hammerfall's traditional power metal roots.

One of the band's better albums in my opinion, simply because I believe it's more consistent than their previous offerings. Probably not saying much given that Hammerfall have always been a one-trick pony essentially, but most of the songs here deliver, even if they don't really stand out as much. "Lore of the Arcane" is a personal highlight.
