Biography
Hamferð was formed in 2008 with one goal: To bring slow, crushing and atmospheric Doom Metal to the Faroe Islands. The windswept and frostbitten islands in the dark of winter are home to a bleak and depressive atmosphere that can only be properly communicated through the funeral march of Doom Metal.
Hamferð have enjoyed much progress since winning the Faroese battle-of-the-bands-style competition Sement in the year of 2010, and after being chosen "Best new Faroese band of 2010", the demo-track "Opið Hav" was on the number one spot on the Faroese charts for three weeks straight. The members of Hamferð are no strangers to the local metal scene. Before forming the band, guitarist John Egholm played for melodic death metallers Synarchy, Remi Johannesen beat the skins for progressive metal band Ineptus, and vocalist Jón Hansen lent his thunder to cult heavy metal group Nátt. |
