Terror - Featuring ATG And Dissection Members - Demo Online

Author and radio DJ, Ian Christe has issued the following update at his Bang! Bang! Blog:

"Thanks to recently-reactivated At The Gates drummer Adrian Erlandsson (also ex-Cradle Of Filth) for posting three great demo songs recorded in two days in 1994 by his Terror project. Fulfilling some kind of Gothenburg headbanger fantasy, this is basically Erlandsson, the Björler twins from At The Gates, and dearly-departed Dissection frontman Jon Nödtveidt doing a tight-as-hell take on catchy Terrorizer-style death metal/grind. Nödtveidt's vocals are especially cool, with occasional effects and a lower-range delivery of his trademark ghastly approach. With a total running time of exactly five minutes, the songs are called "Radiation", "Destruction", and "Terror"-what more do you need to know?"

Go to this page to download the tracks.

Demo info:

Terro Demo '94 (one of studio project from '94)
Recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg.

Lineup:
Anders Björler (Guitar) At The Gates, The Haunted]
Jonas Björler (Bass) At The Gates, The Haunted]
Jon Nödtveidt (Vocals) Dissection]

Sarah Jezebel Deva - Comments About Dissection's Frontman Passing

Cradle Of Filth backing singer 'Sarah Jezebel Deva', has sent a statement to Blabbermouth regarding the passing of Dissection frontman Jon Nödveidt.

Nödtveidt, 31, was found dead on August 16 at his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In December 1997, Nödveidt was arrested for the murder of Josef Ben Meddaour and served seven years for accessory to murder and possession of an illegal firearm.

In a posting on the official Angtoria forum, Sarah Jezebel Deva stated in part, "I think commiting suicide, although very close to doing it myself at times, is bullshit! What the fuck was he thinking? Ending the Dissection legacy by making a kvlt statement and killing yaself! Fucking bullshit, if you ask me. . . Whatever his reasons, RIP, but I still think he is an idiot for doing this." (Read Sarah's entire posting here.

Elaborating on her online posting, Sarah Jezebel Deva has sent the following statement to Blabbermouth:

"People do or say things without thinking of the consequences ? we are ALL guilty of that. I wish people would stop acting as if they are so damn perfect.

"I can assure you my comments were NOT meant to offend ? they were totally innocent, they were said out of disappointment, nothing else.

"It doesn't matter what you say or do, people will interpret what you say how they see fit. People see what they want to see.

"The topic of Jon's death was on almost every message board and I participated in a thread on my OWN message board where the comment was extracted. I commented on what happened because I was kind of shocked. Of course you are going to be shocked when someone you once knew kills themselves.

"Anyone who read the original statement and had half a brain knew damn well I wasn't bad-mouthing him, but you can't educate the thick, can you?!

"I'm issuing this statement because I wanted to clear this up with ANYONE directly connected with the band. The rest of the judgmental, double-standard twats who made negative comments can kiss my arse!

"Thank you."

Dissection Frontman Shot Himself In Head As Part Of Ritual Suicide

Swedish heavy metal musician Jon Nödtveidt, 31, was found dead on Wednesday, August 16 at his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm. He shot himself in the head and was surrounded by lit candles, Expressen reports. Shortly before the ritual suicide, he had sent farewell letters to his father and his girlfriend and explained to a friend, "I'm going away for a long, long time. I'm going to Transylvania."

Sometime between Monday (Aug. 14) and Wednesday, Nödveidt, vocalist and guitarist in the popular Swedish black metal band Dissection, chose to take his own life.

At 7:21 p.m. CET on Wednesday, a police patrol reported to the police communication center in Stockholm that a man had been found dead, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to several of Expressen's sources, the singer had placed an open copy of "The Satanic Bible" in front of him before pulling the trigger.

"He shot himself in the head and lay dead in a ring of lit candles," says a police source.

At 5:44 p.m. on Wednesday, the police received a 911 call from Jon Nödtveidt's family who hadn't been able to establish contact with him for a couple of days.

"They were very concerned," says his legal representative and manager, Per Nordqvist. "His girlfriend and his family called after their fears that something terrible had happened had been bolstered."

The reason for their concern was a farewell letter that Jon Nödveidt had sent to his girlfriend in Germany. His father, Anders Nödtveidt, had also received a postcard asking him to contact a number of people and thank them for everything.

"What it said is personal. I want to keep it to myself," Jon's father says of the postcard's contents.

"I met him in Stockholm just a week and a half ago. Everything seemed great then. I've always had good contact with Jon during his upbringing and throughout his adult life. I don't understand what has happened to make things turn out this way. This weighs even more heavily on us considering everything that has happened. This is very difficult for the entire family."

Jon Nödveidt's father likes the photo in which his son wears a black leather jacket and has asked for that picture to be published.

"It's a good photo. Jon thought so as well," says Anders Nödtveidt.

The suicide is believed to have been planned for a long time.

Dissection - Surviving Members Comment On Jon Nödtveidt's Death

As Blabbermouth.net exclusively reported earlier today, the surviving members of Dissection have now officially confirmed the death of the band's mainman, Jon Nödtveidt. The group's statement on the matter reads as follows:

"As rumours have started to spread we feel obliged to confirm Jon Nödtveidt's death.

Jon Nödtveidt was a man who lived his life according to his convictions and True Will. A couple of days ago he chose to end his life by his own hands. As a true Satanist he led his life in the way he wanted and ended it when he felt that he had fulfilled his self-created destiny. Not everyone will have understanding or acceptance for his personal path in this life and beyond, but all must respect his choice.

Those of us who have met him in his last days can assure that he was more focussed, happier and stronger than ever. It is our full conviction that he left this world of lies with a scornful laughter, knowing that he had fulfilled everything that he had set up for himself to accomplish. The empty space that he leaves behind will be filled with the dark essence that he manifested through his life and black-magical work. His legacy and Luciferian Fire will live on through those few who truly knew him and appreciated his work for what it really was and still is. As our brother's goal in life and death never was to 'Rest in Peace', we will instead wish him victories in all battles to come, until the Acosmic Destiny has been fulfilled.

For the glory of the Dark Gods and the Wrathful Chaos! 218"

Dissection Frontman Jon Nödtveidt Commits Suicide

Dissection frontman Jon Nödtveidt has committed suicide. Nödtveidt's death was confirmed by the Swedish distributor Sound Pollution, whose staff has worked with Dissection throughout the band's career. A posting on the Sound Pollution web site, www.soundpollution.se, reads: "RIP Jon Nödtveidt 1975-2006. Condolences from Sound Pollution & Black Lodge."

Nödtveidt formed Dissection in 1989 and released two full-length albums with the group ? "The Somberlain" (1993) and "Storm of the Light's Bane" (1995) ? before he was convicted in Sweden of felony murder of 37-year-old homosexual Algerian Josef Ben Maddour in 1997. He was released from prison in 2004, at which point he restarted Dissection.

Dissection announced in May that it would split up imediately following its final performances in support of its recently released CD, "Reinkaos". The band was subsequently forced to cancel its two previously announced appearances in North America (Sept. 1 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA and Sept. 6 at B.B. King Blues Club in New York City) after Nödtveidt was denied legal entry into the United States as a result of his conviction.

Dissection - Forced To Cancel USA Shows

Swedish Black/Death Metallers Dissection have been forced to cancel two shows in America. The band was set to play one show on September 1st at The House of Blues in Los Angeles and another one on September 6th at the BB King's in New York. The reason behind the cancellations is because Dissection vocallist/guitarist Jon Nödtveidt was denied access into the USA by the US Immigration Services. They had been causing delays, but in the end they've denied him access into the country. The reason behind Nödtveidt not being allowed into the country is because of his previous conviction for murder in 1998.

Here is a comment by Nödtveidt taken from Dissection's official website: "We knew from the beginning that there was a risk that I might be denied entry into the US because of my past but we (the band and the agencies involved) were prepared to take that risk. It's very unfortunate for everybody involved; the fans, the band and its representatives as well as the promoters. I have served my time and we were really looking forward to these final gigs. To our American fans: In spite of everything; see you in spirit! Fuck the Law! Chaos Forever!"

Dissection - 'Rebirth Of Dissection' DVD Due In July

Escapi Music has set a July 28 European release date (August 1 in North America) for the new Dissection DVD, entitled "Rebirth of Dissection".

With Jon Nödtveidt's release from an eight-year prison sentence on September 6, 2004, he recruited a completely new lineup. First to join the ranks was ex-Dark Funeral drummer Tomas Asklund, followed shortly by bass player Brice Leclerq (ex-Nightrage). After auditioning guitarists in the summer of 2004, ex-Aborym member Set Teitan finally entered to complete the lineup. Embarking on a vast European march of triumph, supported by Swedish black metallers Watain, Dissection's "Rebirth of Dissection European Tour 2004" turned out to be a huge success. This DVD includes lots of extras and bonus material recorded from this tour.

Dissection - New Video Online

Dissection's new video for the track "Starless Aeon" has been posted online here. The track comes off their forthcoming new album, Reinkaos.

About the unique video (made by Magnus Göthlund and Jim Heneghan - Speedsled Films), singer and guitarist Jon Nödtveidt says, "For the making of the video to "Starless Aeon", the first song from Reinkaos to become visual, Dissection explore a special filming technique, shooting scenes backwards, with the band literally having to perform their music and sing the lyrics backwards. The filmed sequences have then ultimately been reversed again, with an original backwards sequence playing forwards in sync with the album version of the song. The visual result appears rather sick and disturbing, and like the rest of the video, very dark."

Dissection - Bassist Leaves The Band

The following message was posted on Dissection's website explaining the reasons of the departure:

"As a result of bassist Haakon Forwald's family situation back home in Norway and his initiatory work with the Norwegian cell division of the Misanthropic Luciferian Order (MLO) it has been decided that Forwald will step back from the position as Dissection's bass player in order to focus on his esoteric and exoteric work in Norway. Dissection wish Forwald the best of luck on the path to anti-cosmic gnosis and thank him for his time with the band.

This will not affect the two upcoming shows in Sweden and Germany booked for December and January where Dissection for the last time ever will perform a set based solely on the old albums!

Bass player candidates already exist and are currently being tried out in rehearsals!"

Dissection - New Line-up Announced

Reactivated Swedish death metallers DISSECTION have revealed their new lineup on the eve of their headlining performance in Stockholm on Saturday (Oct. 30). Joining mainman Jon Nödtveidt (vocals and guitar) in the new formation are Set Teitan (guitar, ABORYM, BLOODLINE), Brice Leclercq (bass guitar, NIGHTRAGE) and Thomas Asklund (drums, INFERNAL, DAWN, DARK FUNERAL). View photos of the new lineup: http://www.dissection.nu/newlineup1.jpg

As previously reported, an audio sample of the new DISSECTION single, "Maha Kali", has been posted online at this location: http://www.dissection.nu/sounds/mahakali/mahakali_sample.mp3

"Maha Kali" (view cover here: http://www.dissection.nu/pics/mahakalicover.jpg), described by the reactivated Swedish death metallers as "a hymn to the wrathful black hindu goddess of Mahapralaya, the great dissolution of cosmos, Jai Maha Kali," will initially only be available directly from DISSECTION via their official web site and on tour.

DISSECTION recently spent time in the studio working on their first studio recording since 1995's classic album "Storm Of The Light's Bane".

DISSECTION guitarist/vocalist Jon Nödtvedt was released from prison several months ago after spending seven years behind the bars for murdering an Algerian homosexual. A short-lived collaboration with former EMPEROR drummer Bård "Faust" Eithun ended in December over "the demands of DISSECTION's Satanic concept." A documentary DVD and a new studio album are expected sometime in 2005.
