We will be playing five shows with the Godfathers of Thrash during February and March, and four of the shows are even as direct support. Mercenary - New Album Update

Official statement regarding the upcoming album:

"Danish masters of melodic and progressive metal Mercenary have wrapped up the recordings for their highly anticipated follow-up to 2006's "The Hours That Remain" (which was subsequently awarded the Danish Metal Award in the category "Album Of The Year").

Commented guitarist Jakob Molberg: "So, the new Mercenary album has finally been completed, mixed and mastered! It was a really laborious birth after several intense months of constant writing and rehearsing while playing sweaty gigs nearly every weekend in between (Note to self: Let's never do that again.). As we went straight into the studio with our masterly producer Jacob Hansen right after the last gig, we couldn't help but to bring along a lot of the immediacy and groove that we love when playing live. The result is in many ways our most spontaneous album ever, but I also believe it's our strongest yet ? it's very melodic, catchy, dark and complex (just like any decent metalhead would ? or should ? want his metal to be.). With bassplayer / shouter Rene Pedersen recording his first album with us, this album marks the return of some really aggressive vocals ? mixed, of course, with Mikkel's soaring clean singing. It's an album that's straight to the point I think, and I can't help but feel we're at the top of our game here. I never had a stronger belief in the potential of this band before."

Mercenary's new album, entitled "Architect Of Lies", will be released late March via Century Media Records.

Upcoming Mercenary shows:

Jan. 26 - (D) Nordhausen - Bloody Sunset Festival
Feb. 07 - (DK) Aalborg - Eskildsen musik
Mar. 21 - (DK) Aalborg - Studenterhuset
Mar. 22 - (DK) Århus - Voxhall
Mar. 23 - (DK) Copenhagen - The Rock
Jul. 3-9 - (SLO) Metalcamp Festval

Mercenary's "My World Is Ending" clip can be viewed here. The track comes off "The Hours That Remain", which came out last year via Century Media.

"The Hours That Remain" entered the national album chart in Denmark at position No. 67. The follow-up to 2004's "11 Dreams" was produced by Jacob Hansen (Raunchy, Communic, Maroon, Hatesphere) and features artwork by Travis Smith (Death, Katatonia, Opeth. Guest musicians on the CD include Soilwork's Björn "Speed" Strid and Heaven Shall Burn's Marcus Bischoff."

Mercenary - Entering The Studio

Vocalist Mikkel Sandager of Danish metal act Mercenary has issued the following update:

"Well, first of all, the new album is really progressing rapidly. We are in writing mode and it feels really good to be creative again. I guess I didn't realize how much I had piled up inside because I find myself writing and writing.

"Can't comment on any titles or songs yet but I am really exited about everything I have heard so far. It is going to be very nice to have René in the process as well as he is able to give us the harsh vocals that I couldn't do on 'The Hours That Remain'.

"On another note, I am starting to look very much forward to playing the next show. I guess I have become quite addicted to doing shows and I feel pretty strange to not play any for two or three months.

"We will start recording the new album in late October and hope for a spring 2008 release but no date has been set yet."

Mercenary - New Album Details/ New Bassist

Denmark's Mercenary, having just wrapped up mixing their August 22 release, "The Hours That Remain", with producer Jacob Hansen (Maroon, Hatesphere), who worked with the band on "11 Dreams", have finalized its tracklisting. Vocalist Mikkel Sandager commented on the album, "We made what we feel is the most powerful album in the band's history. Both the writing and the recording processes have really made us a stronger band as we faced quite a few challenges along the way. We can't wait for people to check out the new stuff, and look forward to playing it all live." The Hours That Remain will be packaged with beautiful artwork by Travis Smith (Nevermore, Opeth).

Additionally Mercenary have welcomed bass player René Pedersen, an active performer from Denmark's Transparent, as their new bass player. Pedersen's live debut will be this weekend at The Sägfestival in Greding, Germany. Speaking for the band Sandager said, "We are confident that René fits the bill perfectly, both as a musician and as a person. We have been rehearsing with him through the last month, and he is really kicking ass!" This will also be fan's first opportunity to witness material from The Hours That Remain live. The band will then appear at Germany's Rock Hard Festival, June 2, before joining King Diamond's spring tour.

Mercenary - New Album Title Revealed

The following statment was posted at Mercenary's official website:

"We've been waiting for this moment for a long time, and now it's finally here.
The new Mercenary album - the follow up to "11 Dreams" - is done.
The recordings ended on Friday, April 7th.
We're also finally able to spill out some more details that we've had on the tip of our tongues for several months:

The new album title is: "The Hours that Remain"

The album will contain 10 brand new songs - about 60 minutes of playing time.
Some track titles are; "The Year of the Plague", "My world is Ending", "Obscure Indiscretion" & "Lost Reality".

We're very happy with the result - and if you like "11 Dreams" you'll definately like this as well. "The Hours
that Remain" has the custom Mercenary riffs and sound, but a lot more heavy, speedy and melodic at the
same time. We've gone even further in mixing the different styles as we like them into a nice "Mercenary" type blend.

"The Hours that Remain" will also include special guests, that we keep a secret for now.

As for the art work, we've decided to go another round with Travis Smith (Nevermore, Testament, SYL etc.).
Travis also did the "Everblack" artwork for us and we're very happy with the layouts he has done for
"The Hours that Remain" so far.

"The Hours that Remain" -was recorded at Jacob Hansen Studios from march 11th - April 7th.
The mixing will take place 5th - 15th of May. Mastering will once again be handled by Ziggy.at zigzound Studios."
