16:32 - Karlabos But it's a second degree influence u.u If Oranssi has psychedelic on it then it makes first degree stoner influence. Plus the riff is memorable, atmosphere is trippy. All the stoner scenario is set =]
16:29 - Apothecary Yeah, now that I think of it, this actually is probably one of the closest things to "stoner black metal" you could find *waits for Marcel to tell me I'm wrong* [link]
16:26 - Apothecary Stoner metal is deeply rooted in psychedelia, but also remember that psychedelic rock is deeply rooted in the blues as well, so the influence is still there
16:24 - Karlabos The last album does. Well, I don't necessarily connect bluesy with stoner, for me stoner metal is somewhat consisting of slow to mid paced memorable riffing, with psychedelic vibe and retro production
16:20 - Apothecary Not to mention, you're really taking that track out of context imo, most Oranssi Pazuzu actually doesn't sound like that
16:19 - Apothecary To me stoner metal usually has a bit of a bluesy sense of groove to the riffs, I don't here that there at all, it's just a minor chord riff repeated over and over
16:17 - Apothecary You could MAYBE argue Glorior Belli (MUATSS and forwards) are, but that's still kinda stretching it. Like I said, the style is very rare

We have devised a neat little trivia game for you to flex you metal knowledge muscles.
The idea is very simple: we (and you!) add questions in form of trivia, image or short audio sample - and everyone can then try to guess the band (and sometimes the album).
- Questions appear randomly
- You have 2 tries and one hint (if provided)
- Questions have point value from 2 to 6, depending on difficulty. Half of the value is determined by band popularity on MS, and half by the submitter.
- Using a hint subtracts half of the points, failing on first try subtracts 25% of the points. Guessing the album is +1 point.
- If you're the submitter or have been to the question's edit screen (meaning, you know the answer), the question will never appear for you.
More good news from Metal Storm - the t-shirts are back after 5 years of absence!
As before, we offer 6 basic types - regular/sleeveless/longsleeve for men/ladies. All t-shirts are black Fruit Of The Loom. The front side image is the MS logo with a faint background (view in higher resolution). The back side is blank.
New t-shirts are printed once a month, based on paid orders during that month. Getting the t-shirt should take somewhere between 1-6 weeks.
Collecting orders, printing and shipping is handled by Barry Anderson - if you have any questions, please contact him by PM or e-mail.
Throughout January we have been painstakingly working to provide you with a run-down of our nominations for what we feel are the best albums of 2011. It is now your job to check out the cream of the crop, and vote for your favourites.
This is the eighth year of the Metal Storm Awards, and as always you have the month of February to cast your judgement. This year however, we have introduced a couple of new categories; Melodic Black and Djent/Math metal, and also split up a few of the categories that were coupled in previous years.
Don't forget to share this news with your friends, or even start your own campaign over the internet for your favourite bands to win. We have done the hard work bringing you these nominations, now let's have some fun. Useful banners and buttons can be found here.
The new Metal Storm version is now online, just in time for the closing of the MS Awards! Quite a few things changed in the layout, but hopefully it won't present a challenge - we tried to keep things simple.
Navigation menu is now on the top, with the login/user and search menus. Instead of two sidebars, there's now only one. Several things from the old layout are missing, but some of them will come back (New releases/Top 200 in the sidebar). Other things will be adjusted with time.
It's now also possible to register/login with Facebook. If you want to connect your account to Facebook account, go to the 'Edit profile' page and enter your Facebook ID there. After that logging in will be a single-click thing.
In Legend, the new project of Van Canto drummer Bastian Emig, which introduces the piano as primary element into heavy metal music, has now released its first official music video for the song "Pandemonium" (off the debut EP Pandemonium).
Just in time for the release of this insane and destructive visual work, the band also launched its new official homepage, which can now be found at http://www.inlegend.de and which contains a lot of information and specials about the band and their music! In order to always stay up-to-date in terms of the visual releases of the band, feel free to subscribe to their official YouTube channel!
The 6th annual Metal Storm Awards are here, and they need your votes! To make your life easier we picked a selection of nominees for most categories, though in some (like The Biggest Surprise/Letdown) the decision is traditionally entirely up to you. Still, if your favorite album of the year is not included, please don't trash your monitor or send us hatemail - in each category you can add a write-in vote (on second thought, hatemail is our favorite form of entertainment, so it's OK too). And feel free to use this thread for discussion.
The voting will be wrapped on the 28th of February, with results posted the next day.
