The previous one was fantastic, this one is shaping up to be on a similar level.

Going to be a great album it sounds like! As expected. HoF is one of the more consistent bands these days.

Sounds just as great as expected. Can definitely expect this album to be as fantastic as De Vermis Mysteriis now.

Sounded ok except the the last minute or so which was mindless plodding.

I'm missing the "concentrated sharpness" of Snakes of the Divine or the monolithic hugeness of "Death Is This Communion" on these two latest songs.

They're basically more like "De Vermis Mysteriis" in terms of sound - there's this sloppiness of sound I don't like (and which I usually like in stuff like Motorhead or Venom). The songwriting in "The Black Plot" is pretty good though.

My thoughts exactly. I was hoping for more SftD or DItC in terms of production, but this is sloppy and way too muddy. Kurt Ballou is slippin'. This is too bad because I love all of High On Fire's albums so far. De Vermis was a great album with a huge raw sound, but the instruments were still clear. Here everything is blended together very amateurishly.

I wasn't a fan of De Vermis cause I found the song writing weak (especially the second half) and the sound sloppy.

I can totally understand that. It was a step back in terms of song writing, but I still liked it enough because it was reminiscent of their early doomier albums. The production did sound too raw though, like a really loud demo or something.
