Testament - Working On Next Album, To Release Book

It's been only five months since Testament released their last album Brotherhood Of The Snake, but in a recent interview with Japan's Roppongi Rocks, frontman Chuck Billy revealed that they are already working on new material for their next record.

He said: "Right after we get home from [our Japanese tour], we start writing. We have all of March off and then April we hit the road. Thirty-seven shows. Us, Sepultura, Prong. It'll be a good package. Then, June we will have off, somewhere in July we will continue writing. We got a couple of shows in July in Europe and then a short run in August. Then we're doing a major headline tour at the end of the year in Europe. We haven't done that in a while, so it's something I'm looking forward to."

In other news, Testament's illustrated history book is coming and it's going to be packed full of early and rare images and the stories that go with them.

It's the full story of the Bay Area thrash kings as told by the band in their own words. Heavily illustrated with rare and candid photographs, memorabilia and using recently unearthed band archives from the halcyon days of heavy music in the early 1980s, this is the ultimate Testament book.

From The Legacy in 1987 through to 2016's Brotherhood Of The Snake, long time members Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick tell Testament's incredible history in full detail and glorious color.

Will be interesting to see and read the book, but the music will most probably be instant throwaway thrash once again.

Book will be interesting, and have slightly higher hopes for the album than my dutch buddy above.. but am not expecting another "The Legacy", or anything that approaches it.

Maybe you shouldn't expect old legends to reinvent the wheel I enjoyed Brotherhood of the Snake a lot, probably the most since The Gathering.

Great stuff.

I hope in the book Chuck finally reveals the longevity of his shades as well.
