Dreadrealm - Calls It Quits

One-man atmospheric black metal project Dreadrealm has informed the fans of its ending. The band released one album, The Essence Of Winter, in 2017. The full statement can be read below.

Official statement posted on Dreadrealm's Facebook page:

"Greetings, everyone. This is an announcement about Dreadrealm ending.

"It's been 2,5 years since I released The Essence Of Winter and it has become clear to me that I cannot create a worthy sequel to that album. There are about a dozen reasons why, but the main one is that the music is simply not in me anymore. I've tried. I've written and recorded songs and then thrown them in the trash countless times, but there is no inspiration to write quality metal left in me, hasn't been for years. I could write a lengthy post detailing all of the problems with my personal life (day job, family stuff, my own personality disorder issues) that have contributed to all of this, but I feel I'd be wasting all of Your time.

"Dreadrealm's first and only album The Essence Of Winter will remain forever a free download at Bandcamp. I feel it is better to release one good album and call it a day than to keep hopeful fans and supporters in limbo, offer excuses or release a disappointing piece of garbage sequel after 5+ years.

"I can't thank everyone enough for Your support. For a brief moment in time, I felt like I actually was someone halfway successful, someone, who had something to offer to fans of atmospheric and ambient metal music. To everyone, who has listened to Dreadrealm's music and given me feedback, to everyone who has been on this short journey with me: Thank You! I am eternally in Your debt."

I can think of a few popular bands that have gone for the second option. I am glad you didn't.

As I've already told you Metren, it's better to burn out than to fade away and I sincerely hope that some day you'll find it in yourself again to make such great music as in The Essence Of Winter. You should be proud and I, for one, won't stop listening to it during the not so many days that the weather is fit for it down here.

You and Hjel were my main inspirations for starting my own black metal projects. I have no doubt you'll find that creative flame again in the future, until then, good luck to all of your endeavors!

Sorry to hear that as I really enjoyed your album. Perhaps (and hopefully) you'll find the spark return when the pressure to produce isn't there. Either way, thanks for creating a great piece of work.

Thanks for understanding and for the continuing support, guys. Truth be told, Dreadrealm might have never gotten off the ground in the first place, if it wasn't for Metalstorm and all of You. I remember releasing (really awful ) songs under previous names like Arcanewind and "The Black Metal Band" and sharing them here. The feedback I got was harsh and to the point and inspired me to push myself way harder than I would've otherwise. And then I found my sound and inspiration, created The Essence Of Winter and Nikarg reviewed it with an 8/10 (still blows my mind), people listened to it and liked it and left a ton of positive comments, MetalDoomMaster felt inspired to start his own project (also still blows my frickin' mind). It honestly still feels like it was all a dream or something...

So yeah... I don't know what else to say really. Thank You again. I might make an album some time in the distant future, but I am not giving any promises of course. Except for the promise that TEOW will always be a free download

Cheers, guys!
