Intruder - Guitarist Dead At 55

American thrash metal legends Intruder broke the news on their Facebook page that longtime guitarist Greg Messick has died at the age of 55. His cause of death has not yet been revealed, nor is it known exactly when he died.

The band wrote: "It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of our guitar player, and more importantly, our brother, Greg Messick. To say we are in shock is an understatement. His passing was totally unexpected as he was only 55. Our hearts go out to his family. When we know more, we will pass it on. Life is short - Tell those you hold dear that you love them?."

Messick had been the rhythm guitarist of Intruder on and off since 1988. He performed on their last two full-length studio albums, A Higher Form of Killing (1989) and Psycho Savant (1991), as well as their 1990 EP Escape from Pain. The band broke up in 1992, but has since reunited occasionally and they were planning to play some shows this year. Whether Intruder will move forward without Messick or break up for good remains to be seen.
