So I am starting this little "niche genre" thread because I am looking for some good "cyber', "trance" and "dubstep" metal bands. I am more interested right now in "cyber metal" but I figure this kind of thread would be more relevant if it was set up for more than just a single very small "niche genre", so I have decided to make it about 3 of the latest very small niche genres of the Industrial metal umbrella.

As I said, I am specifically interested in "cyber metal", particularly the bands like Illidiance, Seecrees, Seth.ECT, Neurotech and Sybreed (none of that melodeath stuff with "techno-y" keyboards strewn about for "atmosphere" like recent Dark Tranquillity and Machinae Supremacy). I am also minorly intrigued by this new "dubstep metal" stuff that seems to have popped up, the only band that I know of that is actually "dubstep metal" is Exotype (they actually use the dubstep "wobble" bass in place of an actual bassist) and would be interested in more bands like them, especially if they have a "better" vocalist than Exotype's.

Some bands in these fields I am already familiar with are Asking Alexandria, Blood Stain Child, Black Comedy, The Kovenant, Mnemic, and T3chn0ph0b1a. Just so no one tells me anything I don't already know...

Sorry dude, the best I could do here is suggest a few cybergrind albums, but nothing that fits within your request guidelines.

Just checked them out and they they are pretty unique but they don't really fit into any of these genres, but I do quite enjoy them. Honestly I'm not sure what to call them, they make me think of Terra Tenebrosa so I guess they should be called Experimental/Avantgarde/Ambient metal. They should definitely be recommended elsewhere so the other Terra Tenebrosa fans on this site can find them.

"dubstep metal"

I suppose you've listened to the latest Korn album? If not, there's indeed some dubstep in it (but no cyber/trance stuff, I'd say)

I have but I haven't really considered KoRn metal in a while. Good suggestion for others who come to this thread looking for anything in these 3 sub genres. I have heard a couple songs off of it but I personally am more interested in stuff like Exotype for the dubstep metal (but with a less hardcore vocal style)...

I also like this mix of electronic and metal a lot. And I am familiar with all those bands you have mentioned in your opening post, and i like them all (except exotype, i can't stand those hardcore vocals)..
So, I will try with some recs:
Laho - Instrumental Electro Metal, album 'Escape From The Dying Star' (2009)
Black Light Discipline - Industrial Metal, album 'Against Each Other' (2012)
Shade Empire - Electro Melodic Death/Black, album 'Synthetic' (2004), top stuff
Noosphera - Electro Melodeath, album 'Metamorphosis' (2011)
Diablerie - cyber/electro metal, album 'Seraphyde' (2001)

I can recommend Dol Ammad (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Dol_Ammad/6287) - epic cyber power metal - and that bombastic genre characteristic is pretty accurate, since they only use choirs for vocals, and are pretty heavy on fast-beat electronics.

Yea, I'm aware of that list but lots of those bands are melodeath with some keyboard stuff for atmosphere or just industrial. Deathstars, to me, is gothic/industrial not cyber. But thanks for adding it here for others even though it's not what I'm looking for me, somebody who comes here might like to know of that list...

I have a few bands to propose :

Samael (albums : Era One, Solar Soul, Eternal)
2 Times Terror
Engel ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCW_C8AXlnk&feature=relmfu most "dubstep" song)
Linkin Park (last album, yep that's not metal but...)
Semargl

Those Samael albums are all more industrial than cyber. Linkin Park as you you said is not metal. Never heard of 2 Times Terror or Engel so I'll have to check them out. Semargl is industrial black metal (or satanic pop metal as they like to be called ).

Thought Machine

Great industrial, cyber, electronic elements with plenty of variety, catchy melodies, and some really strong vocals.

No its not:-) Actually there is no trace of industry, only symphonic and electronic elements. They incorporate more elektro beats than most metal bands i heard, although I agree they are not "cyber" per see. My favorite Cyber band is Sybreed, and Black comedy. And of course the band that coined the phrase, Fear Factory. On Demanfacture especially they capture the true T2 Cyber atmosphere.

Ad Inferna : kind of trance metal band (at least concerning the album named Trance'N Dance). Not my cup of tea (as a french guy, the "soft" french voice sounds horrible to me), but well, you'll have to check it ^^
Kalisia : quoted before, just in case you did'nt listen to it. Progressive futuristic metal I would say (kind of a mix of all extreme metal stuffs with electronic voices and samples). One of my favorite band.

I just picked Minority Sound as staff pick. Just going sure neither of you misses these guys:

And if you like some metalcore with dubstep, how about Beyond All Recognition?

And of course there's The Algorithm. Djent, trance, dub, dubstep, gabber, cyber metal, no idea what to call them, but they are pretty much everything you could wish for:

I am actually checking out Minority Sound right now based on the Staff Pick I noticed before see this post here.

I'll look into BAR. And I love The Algorithm, my latest Staff Pick is Polymorphic Code.

This was weird, dunno what to think of it.

Sounds very chug-happy and generic (oh how I loathe that word yet here I am, using it) and sorta like taking Asking Alexandria, having the gay singing cut and the trance elements replaced with brostep. But despite that I enjoyed listening to it, I might check it out. After all I do like The Browning.

I'll be honest: I don't like it. But as it was requestet, I thought I could just as well share my knowledge about the band.
