Music making apps for ipad/phone/mac

I got an ipad for christmas, d/l garage band and the DM1 Drum machine. Awesome, fun toys. Thinking about the animoog and korg polysix synths as well. Any god reading material to help me understand how to operate any of the above apps better? Or other music/synth apps to look into?

I bought a mellotron app last year for my ipod (I'm a prog nerd like that).
