It's released early.

I like the vocals and electronic flourishes. Not as pretentiously bombastic and derivative as at their worst. Songwriting isn't exactly bold and unexpected, but works alright. 7/10 maybe.

I found their last few releases average at best. Is this any better?

To be honest, I've found all of their releases average. I generally just don't dig that EITS-style of bombastic, tremolo-picking crescendo post-rock. At first impression, I don't think this is guite as stagnant and generic in sound. Still nothing innovative or clever, though.

Don't understand the bad ratings. This is really good, and refreshing.

Don't know about "refreshing", GIAA have been doing the same things for a decade now but I will say this is one of their better releases.

You're right, they've been doing the same things for a while. But I find Origins has somehow a different sound.

I thought it was their worst by far... I had even overlooked it being released. I noticed it when I looked into their newest opus. Honestly, these guys are on a down-slope. After the S/T, it's been boring.
