I think Nile are the Death Metal Kings right now!!

They're great, but not the kings.

Hahaha I knew that sentence would be controversial, I think they are the best DM band now, which one do you think are the best? or you don't have any in particular?

Maybe Bloodbath. Nile's sometimes too brutal for me, so I can't listen to them in all moods, but Bloodbath are just breathtaking.

They are good but for me they are not as innovative as Nile are. I noticed you are from Syria, I'm Veezuelan and we are worried about the political situation there, we hope the US Goverment or NATO won't go there.

Of course, Nile is the most creative, innovative Death metal band. However, they're not the kings right now. Why? Because they sometimes sound very brutal. I can't listen to them in all moods. Bloodbath, on the other hand, is very catchy and accessible at any times. IMO.

I like Nile a lot, but I just prefer Bloodbath. My all time favorite DM band is heavier than both: Suffocation.

I do agree with Thrash that with time you will come to love more brutal music because I sure have the longer I've listened to DM although I don't agree that Bloodbath are for kids because I quite enjoy Bloodbath. And how can you be a Bloodbath fan, aren't they a little too blasphemous for you Beast or did you finally get over the religion bashing?

Actually, The Fathomless Mastery a perfect piece of blasphemy. Not one song that doesn't deal with those things. However, the first two are kind of tame. Still, there are several satanic tracks of each. For example, on Nightmares Made Flesh (Which kicks ass) there are two non-accepted songs which are: Cancer Of The Soul and Bastard.... I deleted these two. It's stupid to ruin a whole album for a song or two, so this is my policy. But some albums, like Altars Of Madness, have about 5 satanic tracks, nearly half the album. I just leave these albums...

Haven't heard it sadly, but I heard pretty much everything and when talking about full lenghts, only their debut is worth it. The production on that album is just lovely and they just fucked it up completely after that album... everything went clear like all the other modern death metal bands.

Well I'd certainly recommend the original EP, you'd probably like it.

I have to say, Nile is perhaps one of the most accessible Death Metal bands.

I mean, I went through a mean fucking prog. phase, and pretty much stayed away from DM for the longest while: Until I listened to Nile's Annihiliation of the Wicked, and then my ears REALLY began to morph.

New album title is called "At The Gate Of Sethu".... I know this goe's without saying but i have a feeling that this will be something special even for Nile's standards. Lets hope im right

I hope so indeed. They need to put out something excellent.

Well, having listened to, although not that many times, At The Gate Of Sethu, my first impression was pretty good. I did notice though that a lot of people started bashing the album for being too "thin" in sound and too much of a difference from their past works. To me, it's a pretty solid album, sure it's maybe lost that crunchy, brutal sound, but I wouldn't write it off just yet.

It's not about being brutal, the thing is that it's the weakest album of their whole discography, it sounds very...uninspired, like they did it because they had to not because they really had any ideas. Ok, the album on it's own is really not very bad but if you take into consideration what the musicians are capable of and how consistent their last few albums were...in fact, all of their previous ones, this is the worst in their discography. So that's the reason why it didn't get the "expected" reviews and ratings, not because it's not "brutal enough"

Just saw Nile sunday night at BB Kings. They played two sets, one new, one old. Still one of the best live bands out there. They really know how to ramp up the intensity.

Haven't seen Nile live yet. That will change this Saturday.

Got to see them back in 2008, was a pretty good show.

I'm right now on a Nile-high! Annihilation of the Wicked and In Their Darkened Shrines are masterpieces! Now I'm discovering their first album...
