I'm probably going to sign up for an Egg one too that's for pick up the same location. Only $.50 more than supermarket eggs. I'd be crazy to not do that.
We grow our own vegetables and peaches but we know a friend with a cattle farm out here so we get from them but it’s not delivered, though that would be really nice
The violin has always been intriguing when it's used in metal, and it's been utilized in some many different ways. So what's your favorite use of violin? This is for bands, not specific songs, if you choose a band which is not listed they should have a dedicated violinist or have had one at some some point in time.
It's My Dying Bride for me. The violins of Ne Obliviscaris are pretty good too but they sound badly out of place. The violinist should've been in a different band. My Dying Bride, on the other hand know how to use the violins perfectly. always in tempo with the mood of the songs and/or albums
Wratc or Marcel , had we such pool in old days ? cant find it

From list - My Dying Bride, but you forgot Dis Pater, Ashes You Leave, Paramaecium , some Whispering Forest had it if I remember, Dormnereich IMO has it

Devil Doll, hands down. Even though it's more rock than metal. That violin solo in "The Girl Who Was... Death" is the best solo of all time. My Dying Bride and Ne Obliviscaris are also pretty bad ass when it comes to the instrument.
Going with SubRosa, but I'm a bit surprised that A Forest Of Stars wasn't on the list.

Well aside from the fact I haven't heard of the band before (well, the name sounds slightly familiar, psychedelic black metal sounds interesting though), I made sure to only go with bands that were notable enough to have a wikipedia page as I could go on for every looking for every obscure or not so obscure band that utilizes violin.

Well, I suppose that's a good excuse.

Devil Doll is awesome! Didn´t know this gem yet. Thx alot
SubRosa has TWO violins! And they're each a mindblowing, stunning addition to the band. SubRosa has revolutionized the greater doom genre with their amazing past 2 albums and outside-the-box instrumentation. There are few more passionate musicians in the metal scene today, and their records show it so clearly.
Upon seeing the title of this poll I already knew who'd get my vote There are many excellent violins (and cellos, per the above conversation) in metal today but SubRosa just soars above all.

SubRosa is also amazing, that is true, and I love them. But Grayceon just is so innovative with the use of violin and they hold a special place in my heart. They are very different bands and excellent examples of violin goodness.

Isn't Grayceon a cello, not violin? That's what it says here, anyway.

Guys, it's not all part of the violin family? I thought that was included.

That's like naming a bass player when someone asks for the best guitar player. Both are related instruments but are very different. Same for violin and cello. According to your reasoning I could have named Hooded Priester here for their use of a double bass since that is also part of the family violin and cello belongs to.

Yes, obviously I was confusing cello with violin. I thought they were very similar instruments simply because of their shape and how they are played (out of ignorance). So, disregard Grayceon then! lol
So, what about Apocalyptica? They play cellos right?

I wonder if anyone could actually play a cello like a violin? Long arms and neck might me required, though.
